Committed - A Crazy Inpatient Hospitalization Story

Chapter 16

That morning around 9 AM my wife and I are just getting up and eating breakfast. We are still in our johnnies. Suzen joins us and I offer her some cereal.

Suzen comments to us, “You’re back in your johnnies again?”

I respond with a short laugh.

After breakfast Jena and I get showered and dressed.

Then I decide to look up the hospital we stayed at; Rockford Care Hospital.

I comment to Jena that I am looking up the hospital and I had never heard of it before. She comments that she has not either.

The website talks about the services offered and the benefits of the hospital. Jena and I go to a clinic instead of a hospital for our exams and sick visits. Rockford Care Hospital has on site X-Ray, MRI, CAT scan and ultrasound. Which is convenient since it means we would not have to go to another building to get those done. They also says “We provide thorough comprehensive examinations during annual physical exams and sick visits.” I think to myself that since our annual exams where we currently go don’t seem that thorough maybe it would be a good idea to try Rockford Care Hospital. So I comment to my wife Jena, “Maybe we should try this hospital.”

She responds, “I think that’s a good idea.”

So I call them up and ask them about this and she say, “sure” and that we can come in and fill out the paper work that day and schedule a physical exam. She tells us that even if we have already had a physical within the last year she still wants us to schedule to have one with them so that they can get an idea of our health and any physical or psychological conditions we may have.

I have the day off so we decide to go down there and fill out the paper work.

Suzen informs us that it is near the end of her shift. So she goes in her car so she can go home from the hospital after switching off with another staff.

The three of us go and after entering the main entrance we are directed to the waiting room. Jena and I talk with the receptionist and fill out the paper work. She seems very nice and tells us that anything we don’t know the answer to to just leave blank.

After filling out the paper work and handing in our insurance for her to process we schedule our appointments for our initial physical exam. Our appointments our only about three weeks away. Which is good because it gives me time to talk to my boss before he makes out the schedule.

We then go to psychiatric intake where Nurse Suzen clocks out and the nurse taking over for her is Nurse Andy.

I exclaim to him, “Oh hello again Nurse Andy.”

He replies that we can just call him Andy.

Suzen hands her shock device remote to Andy and says, “Goodbye for now.” As she leaves.

I see Andy is prepared and mention his backpack.

He replies that he has his pajamas, tooth brush, change of clothes, charger and a few other items in there.

Since it’s a nice day we decide to go to the park. Jena is the one that mentions the idea. There we go for a walk and go on the swings.

That night we all go to bed at the same time, around 9 PM. Jena puts clean sheets and blankets on the spare bed for Andy and tucks him in. I lay down thinking about finally getting to work. But I also think that it will feel kind of funny having an aid following me around. Well at least my boss will be happy since apparently according to the psychiatrist, he things it’s a good idea.
