Anna absolutely loved rambling, there were so many beautiful places in the Malvern hills near to where she lived and the chance to get away from the busyness of life and see the beauty of nature close up had always been a pleasant way to spend a day.

Lately though, thanks to an inconsiderate and lawless 'agri-businessman' land owner and his campaign to prevent walkers from accessing a public right of way through his land, her peace and solitude had begun to be spoilt. There had been padlocked gates and blocked paths, inappropriate use of barbed wire and even dangerous fly tipping of all kinds of rubbish, including broken glass and animal waste.

Even so, Anna was determined to keep the path open by walking it as frequently as possible and that had been how she got hurt.

On Saturday, She had fallen from a damaged wooden stile and ended up with a nasty cut on her lower leg. It didn't look too bad initially so, determined not to finish the walk early and let the landowner win, she washed the cut in the stream - and carried on her route.

By that evening however, the cut had been quite painful and swollen but even though there had been a lot of rubbish laying around, she convinced herself that it would be ok and that she didn't need to see a doctor. Anna hated doctors more than anything so it was easy to find excuses not to go!

Now Tuesday morning, The cut was very painful, hot, red, swollen and weeping some kind of disgusting yellowish green fluid. Not only did It not seem to be healing, she also thought she was coming down with something. Reluctantly she now found herself hobbling into Seaview health centre, maybe she just needed some cream for the cut she thought as she nervously booked in with the receptionist.

"Take a seat please, we have a locum standing in for Dr White today. Dr Jeffries will see you shortly."

Anna swallowed hard and made her way over to the plastic moulded chairs and picked up a magazine. It wasn't very interesting but at least it would help to take her mind off being here.
