Adam stands up and walks the short few steps to Arielle, who is still seated on the exam table. Your bloodwork results should be back within a day or so, Arielle your Pap and HPV test results will probably take 10 days or so. A nurse will call with the results of your tests. Do either of you have any questions?” Arielle says “No” and Adam says “None that I can think of.” Arielle says “I think I will make an appointment to have the IUD.” Sarah says “I think you are a good candidate for it, your uterus is normal sized.” Sarah takes a pamphlet from a drawer and says “Here is the pamphlet that describes the procedure in detail with tips on how to prepare.” Arielle takes the pamphlet and says “Thank you.” Sarah signs Adam and Arielle’s medical clearance forms, hands the forms to them, and says “Here you go, have a good afternoon.” Adam and Arielle reply “You too.”

They stand up and follow her down the hall to the reception window, just before the door to the waiting room. Book us together like we were today.” Adam smiles to himself, glad she wants them to have their physicals together again next year. The receptionist asks “Any particular day or time?” Arielle says “Any day is fine, but later afternoon appointments would be better for us.” The receptionist asks “How does seeing Sarah on Monday, September 23rd, 2024, at 3:15 for Adam and 4 o’clock for you sound?” Arielle says “That works.” The receptionist hands them appointment reminder cards. Arielle says “Um, I need to make an appointment with Sarah for an IUD.” The receptionist says “Okay, I need to schedule you for that preferably for when you are on your period. When do you expect your next period to begin?” Arielle thinks for a second and says “It should be in about two weeks.” The receptionist says “It might be tough to schedule you in two weeks, you will need to be flexible with the time. Let me see what Sarah has available. How about Friday, September 29th, at 3:30?” Arielle says “We can make that work.” The receptionist says “That’s good, because that’s the only appointment slot she had open during that timeframe. If you haven’t started your period by then, you should still be okay, because it will be close enough to your period to still help with the procedure.” She hands Arielle the appointment reminder card and says “Have a nice afternoon.” Arielle takes it and says “You as well.”

Arielle opens the heavy wooden door to the waiting room, and her and Adam walk out through the waiting room to the hallway. After walking down the stairs and exiting the building, Adam walks Arielle to their cars. Arielle says “Wow, what an intense experience.
