Moritz gently stroked his best friend's back and tried to calm her down a little. Meanwhile, Chiara, in her awkward position, had no idea what kind of procedure she would be subjected to next. Before Moritz could translate the nurse announcement back into German, Maria continued talking and tore open a plastic package from which she took out a small plastic anal speculum: "For the faecal sample, I need a small tool with which I can open your butthole wide enough to get to the faeces in your rectum with a spatula. I know this may be completely new to you, but this procedure is mandatory here and you have to go through it."
