Two weeks later the girls met for coffee in the downtown shopping area. They made small talk about clothes, boys, and dating. After they finished their coffees Amy suggested that they walk around window shopping. Julia had no plans for the afternoon and agreed to go along.

They first went through the local clothing boutique, each trying on several outfits and asking the other’s opinion, but neither of them bought anything. They spent some time at the makeup counter looking at various items. Next came the shoe store where Amy tried on a new pair of boots and Julia looked at several different pairs of shoes.

As they walked down the street past the shoe store they came upon the local antique shop. Both girls liked antiques and so they decided to go in and browse for a while. They spent some time in the furniture area, and then checked out the knick knacks disposed on rows of shelves along the wall. They also inspected racks of antique clothing, pulling several items out and grinning with amusement. Then they past the jewelry section with its glass topped cases displaying jewelry and other small items.

Julia spotted them first. There were three of them and they appeared to be several wide silver fountain pens. Julia’s curiosity was aroused and she asked the sales clerk if she could see them. The clerk retrieved them, placed them on the counter, and was then called away to serve another customer. Julia picked one of them up and pulled on the top to remove it from the rest of the body of this silver object. She almost gasped then grinned when the top of a glass thermometer came into view. She pulled it out of the case and inspected it. It had a rounded top and a pear shaped bulb at the other end. above the graduated numbers indicating temperature levels, she saw the word “RECTAL” etched into the glass shaft. She turned to Amy and held it out for her to see. Amy reached for it and inspected it, and a hinto of a blush grew over her face. She smiled at Julia and asked “are you thinking what I am thinking?” Julia nodded in agreement.

Amy then picked up the other wide cylindrical case and removed the top, revealing the tops of two thermometers. She withdrew the first one and read the word “ORAL” etched along its length and noticed that it had a slender bulb that was longer than the bulb of the first thermometer they had examined. She then removed the second one that had “STUBBY RECTAL” etched along the glass stem. It had a stubby rounded bulb. Julia looked at Amy with a devilish grin and told Amy that she thought they should purchase both of the items. Amy’s blush intensified as she nodded her head in agreement. They took the items to the register and paid for them, after which the sales clerk put them into a small bag which she gave to Amy.

The girls stopped for lunch at the local pub. Neither said a word about their surprise purchase. Julia paid the check and the girls took the short walk to Julia’s apartment. Amy excused herself to use the bathroom, bringing the small package with her. She fetched a bottle of alcohol from the medicine cabinet, and poured some onto a sheet of tissue. She carefully opened both cases, removed all three thermometers, shook them down with a few snaps of her wrist, and then wiped them through the alcohol soaked tissue. She then placed the alcohol back on the medicine cabinet shelf and reached for a small jar of Vaseline sitting next to it on the shelf. Amy removed the lid, stood two of the thermometers up in the open jar, put the oral thermometer in her blouse pocket then opened the bathroom door and entered the living room holding it in her hand.

Julia was sitting on the couch and watched as Amy placed the jar with its thermometers on the coffee table. Amy sat down next to Julia, grabbed her arm and drew Julie over her lap on the couch. Julia started giggling as Amy raised her short skirt and tucked it into the waistband. Time to see if they work, she announced, pulling Julia’s panties aside with one hand as her other hand withdrew one of the thermometers standing up in the jar of Vaseline. Amy gently grasped the bulge and started pushing and pulling on it to move the thermometer in and out. With a thermometer under her tongue Julia could only moan softly.

After about five minutes, Amy grasped the waistband of Julie’s panties at both sides and pulled them down to mid thigh where they lay tightly stretched between Julia’s widely spread legs. Amy held the thermometer between her fingers for a while before removing it and comparing its reading with the reading from the oral thermometer. She then removed Julia’s panties and pushed her legs as far apart as they would go before reaching over to pull the second thermometer out of the jar of Vaseline.
