Alicia had lost a great job during the pandemic and moved back in with her parents. Being in her early thirties, unmarried, out-of-work and living in her childhood home with her parents was depressing. Early-on she was very actively searching for work but there was usually nothing available and the few things that were available were completely unappealing. Eventually, she became complacent and only half-heartedly looked for work, essentially waiting for things to turn around. “Consequences? Like what,” Alicia pushed back.

“Test me and you’ll find out,” Maggie replied, still unsure on how she would back-up the threat if tested by her daughter. Later she was talking with her husband, Evan, who was away for work.
