Barbara's Awakening

Chapter 1 - Barbara without Jack

Barbara was in a quandry; what is life after Jack like?

She and her long-time boyfriend Jack decided nearly a month earlier to ‘lighten’ their relationship, Jack's words. What it meant was they would create other relationships, see other people, and perhaps still see each other on occasion, whatever that meant., Sitting in her apartment, Barbara sat in the large over-stuffed chair she had by her bay window and thought, about Jack, her family, and so many other things, but mostly about Jack. She remembered the great times they had, the intense sex they enjoyed, and the often dominant-submissive attitudes she had. Jack was a great submissive.

The more she thought, the more aroused she became. The more aroused she grew, the more she started reaching down into her shorts and rubbing the cleft containing her her clitoris, and soon she was moving around on her chair in the throes of an intense orgasm.

What Barbara did not think about, and probably not realize was that she lived on the side of a building, and opposite was another, identical, building with similar floors and windows. Barbara thought she was secure with the sheer curtains in her bay window; no one could see in.

Across the divide between the buildings, on the same floor lived a nurse named Zoe. Barbara, a nurse herself, actually worked in the same hospital as Zoe, and knew her slightly, even though they worked in different units. Zoe, looking across the space between the buildings could see Barbara in her living room, and though not a voyeur, could not help but notice both the sexual activities of Barbara and Jack, but now the solo activities going on in Barbara's living room.

While the filmy white curtains blocked some clarity, Zoe could clearly see Barbara, hand in her shorts, moving around on the chair, and became aroused herself. She could only imagine the intensity of Barbara's orgasm, but she knew it was powerful, possibly just as powerful as the one slowly building in her own body. She knew she had to meet Barbara somehow.

The chance came just a week later, in the hospital gift shop. Zoe was walking by and noticed Barbara looking at cards. She walked into the shop, and started over to the greeting card area herself, casually sidling up beside Barbara. Zoe perused a few cards, then selected two and turned to go to the clerk to pay for them. As she did, she ‘accidentally’ bumped into Barbara.

“So sorry,” she said, looking at Barbara, “I'm so clumsy at times,” she added, all the while looking into Barbara's eyes while thinking about Barbara playing with herself in her chair.

“Aren't you Barbara?” Zoe asked. “Don't you work you on one of the speciality floors?”

“I am,” Barbara responded. Barbara extended her hand and said, “Glad tro meet you.”

Zoe shook Barbara's hand, holding it for a moment or two,, and then responded, “I'm Zoe. I work up on 12-C. As a matter of fact, I believe we also live in the same apartment complex over on Shelton. Though I have seen you coming and going once in a while from the South buuilding. I live on the North side."

“That's me,” answered Barbara. “I have lived there for nearly three years. It is a nice place, reasonable rent, and they keep it in good condition.”

“That's true,” responded Zoe. “I have been there a little over four years, and it is a wonderful place to live, close to work, and I have met some great people there.”

“Well, again, glad to meet you. Let's get together sometime soon, if you would like.”

“Sure, love to,” answered Zoe, waving as she headed toward the clerk to pay for her cards.
