A few weeks ago, my Dad had made an arrangement for me to meet his doc, since I had just turned 18 and therefore was about to be thrown out of my medical home, the Children's Medical Group. Well, as luck would have it, my girlfriend, Kimmy and I were both coming down with what we thought might be strep throat, and I wound up seeing his doc. Dr. J was definitely not your typical doc

Despite what you may think when you hear the term Dr. J, it doesn't fit. For one thing, (whispering) She's a giiiirrrrl. Yep, a 5'9" athletic female, who reminds you more of a neighbor than a healthcare provider.

When we got there, I was shocked to realize that one of the lay leaders at our parish, Mrs. E, is the senior nurse. It felt sooo strange having her get me ready and give me a shot! But the overall experience was so that Kim and I took them up on their couples option, and she went with me the next day to get her throat checked and for MY physical. That was soooo cool!

Kimmy and I have known each other since grade school, so it just seems natural to do everything (well, ALMOST everything) together...And, since she was there for me at my physical, I'm planning to be there for her.
