From birth to 18 I receive rectal temperatures because I was always told it was more accurate. but here is where the actual story begins at 18 years old at the age where I was starting to go to college and I thought that I was a big boy but I guess I wasn't. I came home one day from college to see my mom and I knew that I was going to have a problem. when I came over to see her I wasn't feeling well I think I was having the start of a cold.

I waited till the next morning to see what was going on because I didn't want to have problems.I was sitting at the table eating my breakfast and Mom comes down and sits by me and says hey honey how are you doing how's college doing. I told her college was fine and my grades are doing great and that I just was real busy. She then proceeded to come over and coaxed my shoulder and hang on me like a little boy that I used to be and noticed that I was warm.

After feeling my forehead she said honey let's go and check your temperature so she persisted to take me to the bathroom and make sure that I was checked for a fever.now all I remember in our house was having a rectal thermometer so I don't remember any other way but being older I thought well maybe mom will give into something different. I'm older now so what is she going to do cuz I'm not a little kid anymore.

After we got to the bathroom my mom opened up the cabinet drawer and pulled out a case and it was the case that I thought look familiar yes it was the rectal thermometer it was not what I thought I was going to get. she then instructed me to lay over her legs like when I was younger and say we need to take your temperature we still do it rectal it's the best way and it's going to always be that way till the day you leave the house.
