Mike's Story

Saturday

The boys were up before any of the adults and were down stairs playing a game. Their dad was the next one up and found them sitting at the table playing the game. The game was for children up to the age of six, so said the lid of the box.

Mike made his way into the kitchen. Mike found that a fresh pot of coffee had been made, and that three mugs had also set out. Mike poured himself a mug of coffee. He took his coffee back into the room where the boys were. Mike took a seat and said good morning. The guys said good morning back to him.

Mike asked if he could have their attention for a few moments. The guys put down the game pieces and looked at him with a look that said how what did we do. "I do not know were to start, but here goes. As you all ready know, grandpa is going to have an operation. On the very off chance that it does not work, grandpa will have to wear diapers for the rest of his life. He is very afraid of this," Mike said, then taking a sip of the hot coffee. "I did not know about any of this until we were here. Last night as Ken knows, grandma asked for one of the baby diapers which I gave her. Grandpa ... well he hit the roof when grandma tried to put it on him." Mike said in a soft voice. "I thought you both should know just in case." Mike sipped at his coffee that did not want to cool down to a drinkable temperature.

Both of the boys sat looking at their dad waiting for him to say something more. After a few moments they went back to playing the game. Mike sat at the table a watched his two sons at play.

A short while later Paul came down to make the coffee, and to surprise his wife with it. To the total shock of Mike and the boys, grandpa had on the top of his PJ’s and a diaper. Grandpa’s face turned a light shade of red as he saw the looks on their faces. Greg was the first to speak, "Grandpa, don’t be embarrassed, we all understand. We are family and we love you." Paul patted Greg on the head as he passed, heading into the kitchen.

Mike got up from the table and followed Paul into the kitchen. "I know that this is hard on you and that you probably thought we were all in bed a sleep. What Greg said is the truth," stated Mike. "I had hoped that you would not see me this way. I am an adult and I should not be in diapers, but I am ... am like a baby at night, no control at all." Paul said in a very shy voice just at a whisper and with a very bright red face. At that point the kitchen door opened and the boys came into the kitchen. Tears started to run down grandpa bright red face. Mike felt a little odd as he took Paul into a hug to calm his fears. The boys joined in and Paul started crying.

It was impossible to make out any of the words that Paul was trying to say. Mike held him tightly in his arms, like a parent holds a child in fear. The fear that Mike felt was the fear that Paul maybe having a nervous break down in his arms.

After a few minutes Paul stopped crying and tried to wipe away the remaining tears from his eyes. When Mike felt it was safe he let go of his hold. Grandpa apologized for his actions. Mike told him that he did not need to apologize. Paul said that he did. Mike so badly wanted to wipe away the other tears on Paul’s face but did not.

One of the boys had poured a mug of coffee for grandpa.

All of them went in to the other room and sat down at the table. Paul tried to sip the hot coffee but then just set the mug down on the table. "I am such a jerk! I have put off this operation out of fear. You and the boys showed me that even if it does not work that you all will understand. You were right Mike ... I was forcing my will on the boys in hope that my problem would go away. Ken, Greg, thank you." Paul said looking into the black of the coffee. The unspoken male rule would not be broken. No one would talk about what had happen this morning to any one.

After a short while, Paul got up and went into the kitchen. He then came back out with a fresh mug of coffee and went upstairs. Mike had noticed that the boys were still in last night diapers by the way their PJ’s bulged in the diaper area. Mike made the suggestion that the guys get changed and dressed for the day. The guys just continued to play the game.

It was about an hour later when Helen came downstairs. She said good morning and gave Mike a kiss on the side of his cheek. She then ordered the boys to clear the game off the table and for all of them to get dressed while she fixed breakfast. The boys started to clear away the game as Helen went into the kitchen.

When the game was put a way, Mike and the boys went upstairs. The beds in the boys' room were made with their stuffed animals sitting on top of the pillows, and the needed items neatly placed on the night stand between the two beds. An under pad was laid out on top of each bed. The boys took their showers and waited for their dad to change them. This morning there were no fights, words, just cooperation.

The aroma of cooking bacon filled the house as Mike and the boys were getting dressed.

The three of them went downstairs at about the same time. The table had been set and where the boys sit were a large glass of milk and juice for each of them. Paul was bringing plates of food out from the kitchen, if the boys were to leave the table hungry this morning it would be their own fault and not Helen’s.

After breakfast Greg and Ken said that they would wash and dry the breakfast dishes. Grandma did not turn down their offer. As the boys cleared away the breakfast dishes Helen started making a grocery list. It had been sometime that she had feed five people and with two of them being teenage boys, that were bottomless pits, the list grew quickly. Mike pointed out that they would be leaving tomorrow. Helen reminded Mike that they would be back in July and most of the items on her list would keep.

When Helen was done with the grocery list, she went and found an old sheet and a pair of scissors and told Mike to cut it into strips. Helen stated that the birds had been eating the seeds that were planted yesterday.

By the time Mike had cut the sheet into strips Ken and Greg had finished with the breakfast dishes and came back into the room. Mike handed Greg the strips of cut cloth and told him that they were for the garden to keep the birds away from the seeds that he planted yesterday. Greg knew where the string and some wooden stakes were in the shed, so he and his brother went off to finish the garden.

Helen and Paul left to go to the grocery store.

Mike got the last cup of coffee and went and sat on the back porch. From the porch he could see his sons working together in the garden. He wondered if Pam was watching over all of them. She must be Mike thought as the shadow of a cloud just missed the edge of garden.

When the boys were finished working in the garden, they disappeared into the woods. The boys had spent a lot of time in the woods over the years of coming to the country place. Ken and Greg had built forts, camped out at night, had played games in the woods and swam in the pond.

Mike got up from his spot on the porch floor and took the empty coffee cup with him back inside the house. In the kitchen, Mike put his cup in the sink and found a trash bag and set off to empty all of the wastebaskets.

When Mike had finished emptying the wastebaskets upstairs he headed for the stairs, at the bottom of the stairs was Greg. "I need to be changed." Greg said in a voice that showed it could not wait. "Then come on up and I will change you." Mike said. "That is the problem ... if I come up, ‘it’ will run down my legs." Greg stated in a shy voice and with a red face. "Then go outside and wait for me by the back porch." Mike said. Greg headed outside. Mike went to the boy’s room and got the items that he would need to change his son.

Greg had taken off his shorts and shoes by the time his dad came out the door onto the back porch. Mike could now see what ‘it’ was through Greg’s plastic pants and it was a big mess. Mike set down the item that he had brought down with him. Mike laid the under pad out on the porch floor and had Greg lie down on it. Mike removed Greg’s socks before removing the plastic pants. Greg had a major case of diarrhea and his diaper could not handle it all. Mike removed the messy diaper, and told Greg not to move. Mike said that he would be back with more wipes to clean him up with. Mike went and got the box of wipes and a clean under pad.

When Mike got back with the extra supplies he cleaned up Greg’s diaper area and both of his legs and feet. Mike then had Greg standup, and stand in the sun to dry off for a few minutes. Mike wrapped the dirty diaper and wipes in the used under pad and placed the new pad on the floor. Greg’s face was growing redder with embarrassment as he stood their naked from the waist down.

After about two minutes, Mike was ready to put a clean diaper on Greg. Mike had Greg lie back down. Mike applied a healthy amount of diaper rash cream to Greg’s bottom and in between his legs. Mike then powdered Greg’s diaper area both front and back. Mike then placed a baby diaper inside Greg’s regular diaper. Greg asked if he was being sent to bed. Mike asked Greg why he was asking that question. Greg said because you are making me wear an overnight diaper, what did I do wrong that you are sending me to bed. As Mike went about diapering Greg, Greg could feel that the baby diaper was over his bottom and not his penis. Mike said that he was not sending Greg to bed but just giving him more protection where he might need it. Mike then helped Greg into a clean pair of plastic pants and pulled them up over Greg’s clean diaper. Mike then let Greg finish dressing himself. When Greg was dressed, Mike sent him off to go back to what ever in the woods that he and Ken were doing.

Mike added the used under pad and its contents to the trash bag and tied the bag shut. Mike took the bag of trash out to the shed and placed it with the other bags of trash.

Mike then went back to the house and took the dirty pair of plastic pants to the laundry area and rinsed them out. After he had rinsed the plastic pants clean, Mike added them to the stack of dirty laundry from yesterday. Mike sorted the laundry and had enough for one load and the start of second. Mike placed the first load into the washer and started it.

By the time Paul and Helen got back from the store the load of laundry was drying on the clothes line. Mike helped unload the car and carried the bags of groceries into the kitchen. Helen set about the task of putting away the groceries that Paul and Mike had carried in.

Both Ken and Greg appeared from the woods looking for something to eat. They had played hard and were now ready to eat any thing they could find. Helen said that she would fix them lunch after she was done putting the groceries away. Mike asked if either one of them needed a diaper changed. Both boys said no. Mike checked them any way and found that Ken was wet and did need to be changed. Mike took Ken upstairs to change him before lunch.

When Ken and Mike came back downstairs lunch was being served. The day was hot and both Greg and Ken were yawning through lunch.

After lunch Helen said that it was nap time for her grandsons. Helen sent the boys to their room and followed them upstairs. A few moments later she came back downstairs and said that they were a sleep. She went to do the dishes but found that Mike and Paul had done them already. The three of them went out on to the porch and sat in the shade look into the woods, in short while they to were a sleep too.

It was a fly that buzzed around Mike’s head that woke him up. He looked at his watch it was better than two hours after they had finished lunch. Mike stretched his arms and then got up. Both Helen and Paul were still a sleep.

Mike went and took the laundry off the clothes line and folded it as he took it off the line. Mike took the folded laundry into the house and went upstairs with it. He placed a small stack of laundry on Pauls and Helen’s bed. He then put the few items of his in his room. At that time he heard the not so small feet of one of his son’s in the hallway, as Mike turned around, he saw Greg coming towards him. "Hello son." Said Mike. "Hi," said Greg, as he came into Mike’s room and closed the bedroom door behind him.

"I am sorry for acting like such a baby this morning when you took care of the mess I made," said Greg. "I don’t know why I acted that way, you have changed both of us this last week and. ..." Greg was now looking at the floor and his face was very red with the start of tears in his eyes. "You did right Greg, you needed your diaper changed and you told me. I was the one that put you and your brother back in diapers sort of, and I knew that it meant changing messy diapers. Last Friday night when, I found both of you in diapers, I did not know what to do. When I did, I planed to treat the guilty party like a real baby, diapers, bottles, baby food the works and I was will to do it. So, no, you did not act like a baby this morning." Mike said. "Why did you back down, not that I would like you to treat me that way," asked Greg. "A few things happened along the way," Mike said. "Like. Never mind I think I know." Stated Greg. Mike handed Greg the last of the laundry and the items from earlier this morning for him to put in his room. Greg opened the bedroom door and a slight breeze through the room was felt. Mike finished up in his room before going back downstairs.

As Mike went into the kitchen he found Greg drinking a large class of lemonade and Helen making three more glasses of lemonade for them. Greg had on his shirt, diaper with plastic pants and that was it. As Greg drank, a small spot grew larger in the front of his diaper. It was like the lemonade was passing through him the more he drank the bigger the spot.

When Mike was finished with his drink, he said that he would change Greg and then go for a walk in the woods and any one could join him if they wished.

Mike and Greg went up to Greg’s and Ken’s room, where Mike changed Greg’s wet diapers. Ken was awake from his nap, and also wet, so Mike changed him to.

The three of them came down the stairs as a group.

Helen had made a glass of lemonade for Ken.

Helen was the only one to join Mike for his walk in the wood. Paul and the boys stayed home. Greg was going to water the garden. The other two had no plans. As Mike and Helen went deeper into the wood the air turned cold, the wind picked up and the almost cloud less sky grew dark with heavy black rain clouds. The low pitch rumble of thunder replaced the quiet of the woods. Helen and Mike turned around and headed back to the house. They only got about one hundred feet before the sky opened with the first few spits of big cold rain drops, a second or two later it was raining hard with lighting all round them. The black storm clouds blocked most the sun's light and the only bright light was the lighting followed by the thundering booms. The rain was made colder as it hit them by the high winds in the storm. The once quiet woods were no place to be during this storm. By the time they got home the storm had passed and they where soaked to the bone and shivering from being wet and so cold.

Paul had towels for both of them waiting at the back door. Helen and Mike dried themselves as best as they could before going inside.

They went to their rooms and changed into dry warm clothes.

Twenty minutes earlier the cold lemonade was needed to beat the heat, but now a cup of hot tea helped to warm the two of them up.

At six or so that evening Paul went to the shed and came back out with the grill, bag of charcoal and lighter fluid. Paul set the grill up and got the fire started as rest of them help fix dinner. Hamburgers, salad, chips, baked beans and home made ice cream for later. Paul cooked the hamburgers on the grill, while the others finished fixing the other items for dinner.

After the dishes were washed and the coffee was made, Helen got the ice cream and served up five bowls. The five of them consumed all of the ice cream that they had made in one seating.

With the ice cream gone the dishes where put a side and the game came out. The boys picked the game it was the game that they played this morning. The game pieces were handed out and the game being. Maybe it was a childs game but every one had fun and was laughing as they played the game.

It was well past eleven that night when Paul call it a night and went to bed. Before leaving the table Paul asked if he could have one of what Helen had gotten for him last night. Helen looked at Mike, Mike looked at Helen, the boys looked at Paul then at each other and started to giggle. Mike said yes that Paul could have a baby’s diaper from the boy’s room. Paul sort of blushed at Mike’s answer, but only said thanks and good night.

It was not much later when Mike suggested that the boys go to bed also. Both Ken and Greg started to put up a fight about going to bed. Mike said OK, I will put you in your night diapers and you can stay up until grandma goes to bed if it is OK with her. Grandma said that would be fine by her. The boys again started to fight over that plan. "Then go to bed now." Said Mike. The two boys said "No." The boys where acting like little kids and Mike would not put up with at this hour of the night. Helen offered a third plan that the boys change themselves when they go to bed. "That was not part of the deal, Ken you know what I am talking about and so do you Greg so move it," said Mike. Helen spoke up with an other alternative if the guys were willing, that she would check to make sure that they had on their diapers when they went to bed. Helen gave Mike a look to say OK to this plan. Mike said fine that would work and headed off to bed.

Mike took his shower and then brushed his teeth before going to bed.

As Mike was getting into bed he heard foot steps coming up the stairs. A few seconds later he heard Helen tell the boys that she would be back with some warm milk and would read them a bed time story. Mike closed his eyes and went to sleep before Helen was back to read them.
