Amber was an 18 year old who lives with her mother and two dogs.

She was generally a healthy kid, but sometimes she did get sick. Amber always acted like an adult. She felt like that she didn't need twenty-four hour care from her mother.

One morning Amber woke up feeling ill. She decided to check her temperature. Her temp was 100.2. She decided to keep it to herself. She went to school like an other day. She made it through the day without any problems. When she got home she took her temp again, this time it was 100.5. She decided to lay down until her mom got home. When here mom got home she asked Amber how her day was, Amber said that her day was fine.

Later that night Amber skipped dinner and went to bed early. Before she went to bed she did a temp check, and it was still 100.5. She woke up later that night and starting coughing. She had a rough night sleeping due to coughing. The next morning she got up and decided to go to school. Her mother looked at her and said you look different, are you feeling ok. Amber said i.m ok. She was about to leave when she started to cough.

Her mother said come here and let me feel your head. Her mother felt her head and said go to bed, your not going to school today. Amber went to bed, then her mother came in to take her temp. It was at 101. She went and got Amber some medicine. She asked how long she had been sick and Amber said that she had been sick since yesterday. Amber admitted to having a slight fever yesterday. Her mom made her stay in bed all day. Amber slept on and off that day. At bed time her temp was 101.5. she got more medicine and went to sleep.

The next morning her cough was worse. She was coughing up mucus. Her mother heard her and came to see what was wrong. Her mother went to get the thermometer. When she got back she told her to open up. Her temp was now at 103. Her mother told her to get some rest. Later that morning Amber told her mom that it hurt when she coughed. Her mother took her temp again, it was 103.2. Her mother was concerned so she decided to call a friend who was a doctor. She told her friend about Amber, and he said that he would be over soon to look at her. Her mother told her that her doctor was coming over to look at her, Amber was lessed than thrilled but agreed.

A couple of hours later Dr. Connor showed up. He went to see Amber. First he asked about her symptoms. She told him about her fever, cough, feeling ill, and that it hurt when she coughed. The doctor started by checking her eyes, ears, nose and throat. They were all ok. Next he checked her breathing, which he was a little concerned about. Her mother came into the room to see how things were going. The doctor said that she has a bad case of bronchitis. He said i went to take your temp. He said ok Amber come lay across my lap so that I can take your temp in your behind. She started to put up a fuss but knew that she wouldn't win. She felt embarrassed. The doctor left it in for five minutes. When he took it out he read it at 103.2. He was concerned about her temp. He decided to give her suppositories for her fever. What the doctor did after that made Amber really mad. He decided to give her a shot of penicillin in her butt.

She hated it so bad, she cried and screamed in pain. It stung so bad. The doctor told her mother to take her temp rectally every three hours. He told her take it with her daughter over her lap. He said any temp over 102 give suppositories ,and anything over 104 call me. For the rest of the day Amber was over her mothers lap every three hours, for a temp check. Amber complained that her butt was sore. Later that night her temp was down to 101. The next morning her temp was still 101. Dr. Connor called to see how Amber was. He was told that her temp was down to 101, and that she was still coughing. He said that he would come back tomorrow to check on her. She rested most of the day. at night her temp was still around 101.

The next morning Dr. Connor came back to check on Amber. Her mother said that ever since you left, her temp has been 101. The doctor checked Amber's breathing again. He was still a little concerned about her breathing. once again she was over the doctors lap for a temp check. Her temp was around 100.8. He decided to give her another suppository for her fever. He told her mom that she would need another shot because she was about the same. When Amber heard that she flipped out. For the second time today she was over the doctors lap. She cried and screamed again, and said that it stung so bad.

The doctor said that she should be good to go. He also told her mom to took her temp rectally ever time she gets sick. Amber never felt so embarrass in her life. She started to feel better after a week. She felt so relived that she only had two shots that week.
