Amy feels the doctor slowly close the speculum partially, then gently remove it from her now stretched out vagina. She immediately feels relief from the intense pressure she was feeling from the wide open bills. But that relief won’t last long. The doctor hands the soiled specs to the nurse, and says to Amy “Now I am going to perform an internal bimanual exam, by inserting two gloved and lubricated fingers into your vagina, and palpating your cervix, uterus and ovaries with my other hand on your lower abdomen. You will feel some more pressure, similar to the speculum.” Amy feels like she wants to throw up. The doctor rolls back and stands up, removes the glove from his left hand, lubricates the still gloved index and middle fingers of his right hand, and steps back in between Amy’s wide open legs, her glossy, light gray nylon clad calves tensing up at the thought of what is about to happen. The doctor says “Okay Miss Melanson, you will feel me touching you now, take a slow, deep breath and relax……”
