The only time I'll use baby powder is when I want to advertise to those who might notice that I am in diapers. Put enough in your diaper and the scent is unmistakable.
I never use any petroleum based gel because that will destroy plastic pants.

Use Aveeno Shea oil diaper creme

Usually a thick coating of petroleum jelly. Sometimes Sudocreme, especially for second diaperings and beyond during an extended event.

If it works for babies, gotta go with great smelling baby oil, and baby power! Just the smell is worth using it.

At puberty I learned that little girls nylon panties felt very good to rub on but were messy. I then learned that plastic baby pants and baby oil were even better and were easier to clean up. Baby oil and plastic baby pants don't mix because the oil makes the stiff and brittle. Plastic back disposable diapers were my substitue and worked great.

I use zinc ointment (Zincofax). It provides the protection and soothes, but it causes the cloth diapers to stain with messes. I agree that any oily or greasy things will kill plastic. On occasion when I take a dose of castor oil ad bedtime I will leak out the diaper into the first layer of plastic pants and the oil will cause stiffness of the plastic.
Zincofax is soft and feels great behind when I walk, like lubrication.

I wear cloth gauze diapers at night only, and powder works for me.

I use A&D to control rash breakout but use powder to control comfort. A little ointment in strategic places and then powder on entire diaper area.

Powder. When I change a diaper I do it how I saw it done growing up. My mom and aunts used powder on their children.

As far as powders, ointments, etc are concerned, I personally use a silicone barrier cream (such as Wellness), followed by a little bit of chamomile-scented baby powder (far less familiar smell to others). There are also times when I just use vaseline to protect my skin.

that was a hard one, because you could squert a bunch of baby oil into your diaper and the non-polar propities of the oil make a fun toy to play with, how ever the baby powder smells nice and keeps me dry.

I get horrible diaper rashes on my crotch and on my ass,
so I use baby ointment, and then baby powder because I love
the smell of a fresh scented diaper.

;D Baby lotion then powder. That's what I use. First rub the lotion in well ::) just be careful cause sometimes other things happen in the process ;D Then baby powder on top. Then my diaper of course. ;D

I've used powder, but I recently discovered the joys of baby oil.

I love the smell of baby powder, but have learned that at least for me, baby oil gives me better protection.
How about you? :)
