I apologize if this has already been discussed, but I'm curious what the routine was like for others after the nurse called your name, but before the pediatrician came in the exam room. I'm going to break it down into parts as they happened for me, but please feel free to share however you'd like.
Nurse called my name, My mom and i would walk through the door at the front of the waiting room and head down the hallway back towards the exam rooms following the nurse.
About half way down the hall there was a scale and place to measure your height, the nurse would stop there and instruct me to "take off your shoes and step up on the scale facing the wall" After the nurse got my weight she would again instruct me "alright now step down and stand here (she would indicate the wall next to the scale where the height measuring was done) with your back to the wall, heels touching the wall and stand up straight" The nurse would record my height and say "you can leave your shoes off, we aren't going far" My mom and me would be shown into one of several exam rooms along the hall.
After we walked into the exam room the nurse would shut the door, ask me to sit on the exam table and she would take my blood pressure and pulse. When I was younger she would ask my mom if there were any concerns she wanted to talk to the doctor about, then as I got older, around 12 maybe the nurse started including me when she asked if there were any concerns we wanted to talk about with the doctor.
Then the nurse would collect the paper she had written down my weight, height, blood pressure and pulse on before instructing me "take everything off but your underwear, the doctor will be in shortly" The nurse would leave, I'd undress as instructed and while i was never told to sit back on the exam table that is what I always did.
While I would be interested to hear as much as you'd like to share or can remember some of the main questions I have are: Did you also get your weight and height taken before going into the exam room? If you went into the exam room to get weight and height were you fully clothed or asked to undress before weight and height were taken?
Were you asked to undress by the nurse or did the doctor ask you to undress piecemeal as the exam went along. For the women if you were asked to get undressed by the nurse before the doctor came in, were you allowed to keep your bra on (once you started wearing one) and what was the phrase used when the nurse asked you to get undressed?
Would you also sit on the exam table while you waited for the doctor to come in or wait standing up, or in some other manner?
