No Peristalsis

Susie & Eric: My original condition prior to six gut surgeries was Hirschprung's Disease plus Mega Colon. What little peristalsis, if any, that I had as a youth gradually went away. There is NO peristalsis. Susie, I've tried Miralax to no avail. My older Sister, who has similar problems from birth, sears by it. It wworks fo her. I guess my question is if NO peristalsis, why use the MagCitrate....unless, and that was my question, it helps 'bring down' the stuff in the small intestine.

I'll be Apple Juice only tomorrow and Thursday along with enemas breakfast, lunch and dinner-time. I would normally take the MagCitrate tomorrow noon....then early Friday morning a small enema to clear out anything that came down overnight. OVER (And many thanks for careing.)

Sorry, boxcar, I just saw this today. I take it your normal routine is enemas every few days or something similar? Do you have an ileostomy? Using MgCitrate draws water into your bowel and softens/liquefies the feces, but you still need some mechanism to move it along down towards the exit point.
