While living in a Middle Eastern country with my wife, I became badly ill with flu one winter and had to have nightly injections in my hip. Each local pharmacy had an injection specialist, and we had to be on the list for that person to stop by each night.
The shots specialist at our pharmacy was an attractive woman in her early thirties. The routine was always the same, though it surprised me the first time. She said she would administer the injection in our living room, not the bedroom (for reasons that were obvious as soon as she mentioned it). We had a second story condo, and she asked us to close all the curtains in the living room carefully. Next, I was to lower my pants and underwear (she made sure not to look as I did this), and lie face down on our sofa. I was running a high temperature, and I remember how cold the air felt on my butt. "Yasemin," my wife, was watching throughout...both she and the shots lady knew the reasons for this.
The injection specialist next put on latex gloves and told me that she would take my rectal temperature...which she did, very efficiently, though it was embarrassing to have two women, one of them your wife, watching this procedure.
She reported my temperature to Yasemin, then prepared for the injection itself. I only made the mistake of looking at that syringe *once*...the needle was much longer than any I'd ever seen before. After she asked me if I was ready, she would steady things by placing her left hand on my left hip, then the needle to my right. When it went in, I discovered that it was also thicker than any needle in my experience. The injection was long and slow each time, and it hurt like Hell. Keeping her left hand on my left hip throughout, the lady would actually keep track of the time for me, periodically telling me how long it would have to continue.
Finally, when an injection was complete, she would say "Finished," and thank me for remaining still. She'd turn her back to me so I could get my pants back in place, and Yasemin would bring her her payment at that point
That was the worst flu I ever had...I lost 25 pounds that winter. But I eventually got over it, and I don't want to think about what it would have been like without the medication.
Plus, it wasn't all bad...I got to have my wife watch while another woman had her hands on my bare bottom...
