I have taken about 90% of my enemas solo. If you have someone else give it to you, it should be someone you trust implicitly! Ideally a parent, spouse or very close sibling. Someone who will keep a confidence.
Accept that you WILL NOT take two enemas exactly alike. IT CAN'T BE DONE!! Every enema will be at least a little different
First, find a good bag somewhere. Online is full of good places.
Decide WHAT you are doing.
Are you just experimenting?
Are you trying to clean yourself out?
For that first enema NO laxatives of ANY kind for at least 48 hours before and after.
Don't know that I would do it for the second one either. After that use your own judgement.
Find some soapsuds you can be comfortable with, whether it's Ivory, Castille soap or something else is less important than the fact that YOU are OK with it.
DON'T use anything stronger until you have done a few soapsuds enemas.
Do your first couple at least on an empty stomach.
Use either knee-chest position, or Simms (Left side, NOT right side) position Right knee drawn up. left knee bent full 90.
If you use knee-chest, be sure it IS knee-chest, not knee-neck, or worse, knee-head. To do this, you might want to place a pillow under your knees, and another under your chest. If you are a female, unless you are small busted, you will likely find it more comfortable to use a slightly flatter pillow under the chest than under the knees.
If you are female, it is totally up to you whether you leave the bra on or not, but I can say from experience that, if you are well endowed, leaving it on helps you get a better "feel" for when you have a good knee-chest position.
If you are wearing any sort of Spanx or similar, take it off at least from the time you get into position, until at least 30 minutes after the last expulsion.
Before getting into position, ALWAYS PEE FIRST! That way there are no other factors generating pressure on the lower abdomen.
RELAX!! It's best to clear the schedule, so you have no distractions. The best way to set up the cell phone and/or laptop is turned off and out of reach.
Hang the enema bag about 3 ft above where your rectum will be when in position!! Ideal flow rate is about a quart per minute.
Choose a position. Get in that position BEFORE inserting the nozzle.
Take a couple of minutes once you get in position to just relax yourself, and focus on what you're doing. Look at the bag no more than twice between hanging the bag and injecting the enema. You don't need to scare yourself!!
Touch the nozzle to your rectum, make sure you are pointed at your navel. some people find that putting the other hand over the navel helps them determine that, others find it doesn't help. Push it in GENTLY!! NEVER FORCE IT!! On the first round, you probably won't need any lubricant, if you do, KY Jelly or a competing product with a different brand mane on it is the ideal. Vaseline is NOT good for the rubber. With proper care the bag should last several lifetimes.
DO NOT RUSH!! Relax, and take your time. Inserting the nozzle should feel a little strange to someone who has never done it but should never hurt!!
Once you insert, keep your hands away from your tummy. they can go anywhere else that is not too uncomfortable.
I always wait a couple of minutes between insertion and opening the valve.
I find it helps to take 3 to 4 deep breaths, as deep as you can, then breathe in, hold your breath, pop the valve and breathe naturally., your breath may be faster than your resting breath, perfectly OK!!
Take as much as you can! Your GOAL is 2 qts, but you may not make that goal the first couple of times.
Hold it as long as you can, with a goal of 15 minutes, You may not make that goal the first time or two, but be strong!
If you are having trouble slow deep breaths can help, so can keeping an old washcloth or hand towel in easy reach, It should be clean, but does not have to be in good shape otherwise. You can either twist it in your hands or use it as a bite rag during those "peaks" where you think you are going to lose control.
Don't take enemas too often!! After that first one wait at least a few weeks before trying again
Have a good enema!
Lisa!!
