I have been given exam gowns that were about knee length and others that were came down only to mid-thigh. The knee length gowns are okay, even though I can still be exposed sitting on an exam table with no drape over my lap. The mid-thigh gowns are more of a problem because sitting on an exam table, they ride up to just below crotch level and the genitals are exposed when the doctor is sitting down on his stool before the exam starts. Almost like wearing a short cloth bag that is open in the back. I have heard that exam gowns for females tend to be shorter than those for males because of the need to expose the genitals more for the pelvic exam but that may not be true. It is clear from this forum that females are always in gowns once they are grown and that guys can be in gowns sometimes and in their underpants only sometimes. Having had both long and short gowns, I would rather be in my underpants only than in a short gown.
Are there different gown lengths and has anyone else noticed this? Tall guys have this problem even with the knee length gowns?
