For me, it's only the masks that I care about. In this case, it seems like patients usually get a yellow earloop mask to wear, which is great, but I also like he old-style blue cone masks and the 3M 1860's, which are a brighter blue (teal?), thicker, and have two rubber bands, not one. I just like the severity of that look.
What I'm mixed about is all these "fashion masks" that are so popular nowadays: Vogmask, I Can Breathe (a girl I was friends with wore one of these----white lace pattern), Cambridge Mask. I feel like the fitting of all these is pretty suspect, and that's what I find attractive on a young female patient: a well-fitting mask. As well, how do these masks get NIOSH rated? I think Vogmask self-rates, which I don't like.
For patients, Stanford starts you out with a half-mask cartridge respirator (3M 6001, maybe? With #2091 pink pancake filter cartridges on each side). Since the OP specifically alluded to nursing and maybe surgery by mentioning scrubs, I'll bring this back around and say that I'm not sure I've ever seen a surgeon or nurse be fitted with a half-mask cartridge respirator, but I could see that for a huge outbreak, like for SARS back in '03.
