Question about soap - J&J

I've used eucalyptus, as well as the Tea Tree soap from Dr. B., and have never had any problems. I don't use quite as much of either as I would of the almond or baby mild, so I would suggest starting with a smaller amount, and then working up from there.

Dan

After reading on Zity I bought a small bottle of unscented Dr. Bronner's liquid, but after trying it several times my wife and I agree that it is back to Ivory. We think it gives a better cleaning out plus is very nostalgic even if they do seem to have changed the formula.

Soap is a basic substance and kills cells by wearing down their cell walls. i would advise against using any common soaps in any situation.

What exactly IS ivory soap? Yes I know what Google is....

Are you ready?

Ivory (the real stuff that is or was 99 44/100% pure) is SOAP -- a salt of a fatty acid and alkali.

Dr, Brohnners is the best for me. OR J&J. I usually dont run soaps because of the extra peristalsis. But you should be relatively safe putting in the j and j and running water in after. First time I used it for anal play, I felt it was relatively mild but id never had any other soap so it was a startle to finally feel what soap does.

My penny and NO PERFUME

What exactly IS ivory soap? Yes I know what Google is....

It’s a traditional, even iconic, US soap. I wouldn’t know a comparable NZ product, but in terms of composition it’s similar to laundry soaps like Lux or Velvet (aka Sunlight) in Australia. Unlike those, it has the unusual property of floating on water, otherwise it’s quite unremarkable. It dissolves very easily in warm water, and many older Americans grew up receiving enemas made from it, so it’s often mentioned on this site for nostalgic or other reasons (often coupled with the claim that the formula or smell has changed!).

If you want to try it, it’s not hard to find online. The cheapest source I know of in Australia is http://usagroceryoutlet.com.au/products/ivory-bath-soap-4-oz-bar

Edit: Arthur, it’s not the case that Ivory soap has no perfume.

More on Ivory soap: the formula has actually changed recently: the new formula contains added free fatty acids and glycerine, making it milder (less drying to the skin) than the classic Ivory.

There seem still to be stocks of the original Ivory around, recognisable by the claim that it is ‘99 44/100% pure’ soap. That is what I bought from the importer I mentioned in my last post. Soap made according to the new formula does not have the word soap on the packaging and is not claimed to float.

Use Bronners or goat soap

I e-mailed proctor and gamble asking them if ivory soap was safe for my enemas. Their response was check with your doctor. They neither said it was or wasn't. In fact it sounded like they passed the buck to me.

^^^^ Why shouldn't they pass the buck? They are selling a cleanser, not a health or beauty aid or pharmaceutical.

A manufacturer isn't going to recommend an off-label use. That could leave them open to lawsuits.

Use Bronners or goat soap

I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy expensive soaps, like goat milk soap, for enemas. I bought Ivory soap once out of curiosity after seeing it mentioned so often on this board, but I wouldn’t use it regularly as it’s expensive to buy where I live. The soaps I use are:

– a liquid castile soap that I buy from a soap hobbyist’s site. They sell it in bulk, so it works out quite cheap.

– a laundry product consisting of flakes of pure soap, which dissolves very easily in hot water. (Most people use it for washing woollens.) It’s very similar in composition to the ‘classic’ Ivory soap, just without the air that made Ivory float.

Dr Bronner’s liquid soaps are available here, but they cost more than the liquid soap I regularly buy. I suppose if people enjoy the various perfumes, that could be a reason to use them.

I am not a doctor, but I have used Dr. Bronners Peppermint Soap for many years. Try it, you will like it.

I don't shoot baby shampoo directly into my rectum, but I am a proponent of using it in enemas as an alternative to Ivory soap or other soaps. I do like Ivory, but many soaps, other than Ivory or Dr. Bronner's, contain things that I am not comfortable with injecting up inside me. yes, people have listed the ingredients of baby shampoo and there are lots of "chemical type" names, but baby shampoo is benign enough to get into your eyes, or the eyes of a baby, so just how harmful can it be? Yet, it is very cleansing. I squirt about a teaspoonful per quart into my bag and it give me an effective, yet non-irritating enema.

@ one-eyes (post#45)---checked that link on Ivory ...Inexpensive even @ $1.25 per bar considering our own "Simple" soap is in the region of $4+ for their twin pack.... But as with yourself there are a number of Australian pure soaps readily available & inexpensive...However the Sunlight still makes for a mighty fine Enema concoction...that nostalgia thing.

Recall that old TV jingle --"when results speak volumes"...has a nifty ring to it.

The quoted price does look cheap, but enter your postcode and check the shipping. They charge like wounded bulls.

If you want a great, non-irritating SSE, baby shampoo is the way to go. I add a couple tablespoons to my bag and fill it with hot water. Then while I have the shampoo out already, I squeeze a some onto my finger and use it to lube up my ass really well, inside and out. Nice and slippery.

Besides being a very comfortable solution, baby shampoo does not leave the soapy residue on the inside of your bag like ivory or bronner's. I assume the same is true inside of my large intestine.

Nice and slippery and smells great!

I tried baby shampoo - but results were terrible. Perhaps my colon is so used to strong Ivory Soap, that baby shampoo (by virtue of it not supposed to irritate) does not cause any reaction in me..

Soap is not good only Water with 9% salt it is ok

NO

NO

NO

NO

0.9% salt is what is isotonic saline.

.9%

0.9%

That's nine tenths of one percent NOT NINE percent

NINE GRAMS PER LITER OR QUART IS 0.9%.

9% IS 90 GRAMS PER LITER OR QUART. -- NOT GOOD -- 9% will dehydrate you.

WHEN YOU MAKE A POST FOR ANY INSTILLED, INJECTED OR SWALLOWED SUBSTANCE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR NUMBERS CORRECT.

DON'T MAKE SUCH A POST IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE CORRECT PRESCRIPTIONS--ESPECIALLY IN A SAFETY INFORMATION SECTION.

That's pretty impressive

Dr. Bronners Peppermint Soap is my favorite. I have tried Ivory but I can't tell the difference between Ivory and plain water. Dr. Bronners Peppermint Soap produces strong cramps and that is why I use it.

LOL. Please take this in the manner it is intended. It just made me laugh that Einstein got his sums wrong.

p.s.

Easy mistake to make. I'm terrible at maths.

You're not allowed to make mistakes when you give people dosages for materials they put inside their bodies.

I use hospital grade Castile soap in the foil packets. Not easy to find but this company is very fast on shipping and sells for a reasonable price. Kind of an odd name for a medical supply company but I have found them great to deal with . . .

Aren’t those little packages a rather expensive way of buying liquid castile soap? You can get Dr Bronner’s unscented castile soap from their site for $64 a gallon. That’s significantly less than the case of 500 foil packets (4.5 litres) for $84, and with a little searching you could probably find still cheaper sources.

Dr. Bronners Peppermint, $9.95 for a 32 oz. bottle at Costco -- not bad.

In searching for some variety I found a little bar of brown transparent soap in a bathroom drawer. The wrapper was labled Gilchrist & Somes on the front with one word on the back -- Glycerin. BINGO! Dissolved some of the bar into a 2 liter tap water prep and had very nice results. Quick urgency to expel, within 5 minutes, and medium cramping on the first wave of exulsion. I've used up the bar over the course of 3 enema sessions and a couple of showers. I'd buy more of it if I were to see it in the store. I'm excited to try Neutragena now too expecting similar results.

I really like J&J baby shampoo and body wash. It is mild, lots of suds, helps clean you out. If you choose, you can add a bit of Dr.Bohners Peperment soap to it, gives a nice tingle and very nice clean out. I then follow up with a salt rinse and then a baking soda rinse after that. Feels so good.

I have tried lots of soaps. I like this the best.

Not to spoil anyone's fun (especially mine, heh) but i read this peer-reviewed piece while doing research for an unrelated post to Zity:

Maybe my mother was more right than I wanted to realize, when, in my teens, she told me that I would ruin myself with all my enemas:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3489329

Lax me, this is a extremist publication. They take one case and blow it up into a medical crisis.
