Not for fun, but when not strictly needed YET, yes.
I used bisacodyl(Generic Dulcolax) I had used it numerous times as a pre-enema prep before a system cleanout.
This was the not fun experience I had:
.
One morning I got up on my day off, and needed an enema, but I didn't really feel like taking one!
I decided that I would take 6 Generic Dulcolax instead. I swallowed them about 6:20AM and skipped breakfast.
Since I was off, I was dressed in a simple muumuu, wire free bra, and panties. Nothing else! I knew I had taken a high dose of laxative so I made sure the toilet lid was up and the seat down.
I got no feeling like I had taken a laxative, or any thing! 10:00AM, no sign I'd taken it! I drank as much water as I could stand. Noon: No sign of anything happening. Drank some Gatorade, but didn't eat. 1:00PM didn't feel hungry, but that was the only thing going on in my gut! 2:00PM, I passed a whole lot of gas, many times more than usual, but still no feeling like there was anything happening!
3:50PM, I was sitting at my computer, wondering if I should declare a failure and get out the Fleet enemas. All of a sudden with NO WARNING: The work desk was 14 steps from the toilet. If it had been 15 steps, there would have been a huge mess to clean up! My entire lower bowel must have emptied. It all took less than 30 seconds! In that few seconds, so much came out that I had to flush before there was room to clean myself off!
I was thinking that it would be something like a system cleanout, in which when the small intestine released into the large intestine, every 20 minutes or so, I was going to have to run back to the toilet. DIDN’T HAPPEN!!! I felt NO URGE to poop again until about 6PM the next day.
About 6 months later with that memory in mind, I said to myself, "OK, from 6:20AM to 3:50PM was 8-1/2 hours, soooo, if I take the same thing about 9:30PM, half-hour before bed time, I should get good results when it's about the time I usually wake up! I made sure the toilet lid was up, and the seat down, knowing I was not going to get much warning!
I took the same thing, from the same card of Generic Dulcolax!
I lay down and tried to go to sleep in the same way I normally do. By 10:30, I was feeling the same way I feel if I try to sleep after having too much caffeine. Just could not settle down. About 11:45, I started passing a lot of gas, just like before, but I still was like being amped up on caffeine! I got no sleep at all the whole night!
Typically, when you take a laxative, there comes a point before it kicks in where you get a "churning" or nausea, and then the feeling like you have diarrhea but can't go right now!! That started happening about 3:00AM! I felt so bad, I got up, and actually took a glycerin suppository to try to speed things along. At about 4:15AM, I got the same result as I had gotten those months earlier in the afternoon.
My father raised me as a single parent, I've never met my mother. I called him on my cell later that day, and he told me of a weird experience he'd had with a Dulcolax suppository within a few days of my first time with the Dulcolax months earlier. He said that he now considers Bisacodyl, the active ingredient in Dulcolax to be unpredictable and erratic, and he will only use the Fleet Bisacodyl mini-enema as a pre-enema before an Epsom Salt and soapsuds, and not otherwise!
Is there any reason I shouldn't do the same?
