Nice stories for some of us here, but many of the accounts you give do sound very unbelievable. The two above most certainly: c'mon, 10 boys all getting jerked off by a janitor and no one ever tells or informs about this? Nothing happens afterwards?
And inducing a hysterical paroxysm was something done in the 19th century, not in the 1950s and most certainly not to a young girl.
If these are fantasies - which to me certainly seems the case - then put them in the fantasy section. This thread is for true, actual accounts.
It was Charleston, West Virginia after all and in the early to mid-1950's. Some of these "ring true" in the sorts of stories that I heard when I was growing up.
Many schools in that era had boilers, for example, that were coal-fired and had boiler operators. Most were operators were probably ordinary people who presented no threat to the children around them. But if you wanted access to young boys, for example, being a male figure at a school with access to young boys was the place to go. There weren't all the background checks and other procedures that are in place now.
And yes, people (boys) would rarely tell even as a group setting. Oh, you knew others were involved and you might talk and laugh among yourselves knowing who the "perverts" were, but you wouldn't "tell" simply because you might also get tagged as a "faggot" or a "queer" by others. And if you were alone, who would believe you. Your parents might, but by your own reaction posted above, it could seem made up...a fantasy unless some sexually transmitted disease showed up that couldn't be explained as to how and why gonorrhea showed up in a boy's rectum.
Pedophilia (and particularly male homosexual pedophilia) wasn't handled in the same way in the 1950's, 1960's, or even into the 1970's in quite the same way as it is handled now. The was a lot of deference to adults by victimized children and deference to adults by other adults over children's "stories." Let's face it, that was the way it was seen in those days. The perpetrators might have an "accident" or threatened "accident" and have to leave town, or be transferred to some other place (school) where there was a "fresh start" and rumor, innuendo, or the threat of an irate (and well-to-do) parent wasn't present. Some of these people lasted 20, 30, or more years as pedophiles before "modern times" caught up with them. How else do you think the pedophilia within the Catholic Church lasted so long without being blown wide open by investigative journalism?
Have you never been surprised where a teacher, who you knew had an under current of rumor about extracurricular activities with students even though you didn't experience or have any direct knowledge, was suddenly let go and the reason was something like inappropriate activities with students. You might have assumed a male teacher was "taking indecent liberties" with his female students and might not consider (and it might not be explicitly broadcast) that he was actually sexually involved with his male students
Today, they get arrested and prosecuted. That was less likely in the time period referenced here.
