I would be left in.on some occasions, it it would start slipping out my mom or nurse would hold it in.
I would love both.If someone had to take my temperature rectally, I would want him to hold it in for me.If I do it by myself, I would leave the thermometer sticking out of my bum.
I think it was a mix. There were definitely some times it was left sticking out and the parent left the room, because I remember reaching back to feel the thermometer to see how far it was pushed inside. And that's how I also discovered that it felt good to gently tap or nudge the thermometer while it was inside. I typically hold in when I'm taking it, and prefer that, too. Of course if it slips out, it just needs to go back in and the time has to be restarted. Not the end of the world. :-)
When I was a child and teenager, a parent or medical professional pulled down my pants and white briefs, place one hand on my bare bottom, and with their other hand would insert the thermometer into my anus. The thermometer usually felt cold and uncomfortable, and I would feel embarrassed. Sometimes my anus was so tight that they would spread my ass cheeks apart with both hands, tell me to begin to breathe out, and slowly insert the thermometer. That would cause a stinging sensations. They would hold the thermometer in with one hand, or they would let it stick out if my anus held it in place. Over time this caused me to become submissive and have a secret desire for the pain and pleasure of penetration of my anus with a thermometer, nozzle of an enema bulb syringe, and nozzle of an enema bag. I still use a rectal thermometer to take my temperature.
He opened my butt cheeks and smeared petroleum jelly from my tear to my balls. Then he smeared my rectum in and took his finger out. he then inserted the thermometer deeply.
I like the butt thermometer to be left sticking out....it just looks more humiliating!!! Omgggg...especially if the patient is naked or underwear around ankles....what a sight to see...if nurse wants to hold it then kudos to them hahaha
I like to free solo. Hands free I like the sensation of thermometer staying in my bottom under its own weight.
Rectal temperatures are a big part of the exams I give and over the years I have evolved in the various positions I take them in, dictating whether I have to hold it in her rectum or leave it sticking out. Traditionally, I have always taken it with her on her tummy, panties pulled down to mid thigh. Once I insert it, I leave it there for her to realize what is happening while occasionally reaching over to 'adjust' it and push it in a bit deeper. While I do still employ the practice, I will also have her lean on her elbows on the table, take a step back the draw her panties down to her ankles. I will sit on my white stool behind her, spread her cheeks and insert the long. cold, gooey rod into her rectum. This position requires me to hold it the entire time of registration, twirling and adjusting it while telling her to ''relax..just a few more short minutes''.
Whenever I lie on the bed reading a book, watching a movie, playing games on the laptop or sleeping at night, I always leave the thermometer sticking out of my bum.
I do remember getting rectal temps being taken at a very young age and I remember it would actually hurt unless it was being held in place while pressing down on my cheeks.
I never had the thermometer there growing up, but think it's more embarrassing to have it held in place now. Isn't it a shame that there are thermometers that scan your skin now?
For me it depended on the way how the RT was done. On my back, legs up mom always held the thermometer, on the tummy or on the side just inserted as deep as possible and left alone to do the job.
It depended on who was doing it when I was 5 in the hospital it was held on to, I think my mom just left it stick out, my ex used to hold it in and turn it
When I’m having my temperature taken, I leave it up to whoever is taking it. When I’m taking a woman’s, however, I hold it in pretty much the entire time. I use to just let it stick out on its own but there were too many instances of my partner squirming around, clenching, or pushing out due to the strange sensation. I fine it’s easiest to just keep a hand on the buttocks firmly to keep her still with the thermometer tightly between my fingers
At The pediatricians the nurse always held it in place. At the hospital some nurses held it some left it sticking out for what felt like a long time
It was usually held in growing up. But when I give rectal temps now, I do find it fun to just leave it sticking out. Because it makes it more embarrassing for the receiver to know that it's their own rectum, along with their cheeks and a little gravity that is keeping that thermometer firmly in place.
I recall both situations - held in place, and just left in place. It seems when it was held in place, the thermometer was “adjusted“ more. That is gently moved in and out, and even slowly rotated a bit. Though I found the sensations produced by the rectal thermometer distinctly pleasurable, I refused to have my temperature taken rectally after age five. What was I thinking?!
I only had it held in by one girlfriend, because she said that she was afraid that I might push it out.
It would depend on who was taking it. Sometimes the thermometer was held in. Other times , the thermometer inserted and left alone.
Prior to age 5 my memory on any temperature taking is zero. At age 5-up it depended on who was checking my temperature. In my single parent home--either my Dad and/or the Dr.on a house call did it.The procedure changed as I got older. At 5 or 6 by Dad--it was me otk across his lap. At age 7 this morphed to--on my tummy on my bed. The family Dr. was Old School and he did it strictly otk across his lap even when I was 9. My Dad never held it I place. The Dr.always did. When I turned 10 ('60) the rectal thermometer was thankfully retired.
