I started an apprenticeship when I was 18. I had passed an admission exam, I still had to pass a medical examination which had to be a simple formality, I had no illness, the only one known was mild scoliosis.
I don't remember if there was a medical questionnaire to fill out, it is possible and I probably had to send it in advance to my future employer or to the doctor. These questionnaires always asked if we had any operations and I mentioned circumcision, even if it was not very important for a check-up. I don't say it anymore, unless it's an urologist.
So I had a discussion with my father about it, my mother also had to listen. My father told me that the doctor would see that I was circumcised. He explained that he had undergone an identical examination 20 years earlier, by a very rude doctor, and that he had to undress completely. I think it was from the start of the consultation and not just for the genital exam.
I was not very reassured, I was afraid to get hard during the exam, I was not unaware of my medical fetish.
To make matters worse, I fell ill the day before the exam, very brutally. It was March, it was flu. It would have been better to postpone the exam, but it would have made a bad impression. My parents recommended that I go anyway.
The next day I stayed in bed in the morning. My mother gave me medicine to lower the fever. It also contained caffeine, I am quite sensitive to this product, I limit my coffee consumption to 2-3 cups per day. I jerked off to avoid getting too aroused, rather useless, I could barely get an erection.
So I went to the doctor, I was worried because I was afraid he would find out that I was sick. He was alone in his office which looked more like an apartment, no receptionist. It could be a retired doctor who only had a limited number of patients. He asked me to go to the bathroom to urinate into a container. I remember an old bathtub.
I don't remember all the details of the exam, part of it included a visual test to make sure I was not color blind. Then I had to take off my sweater, not the pants. He auscultated me, my heart was beating too fast, from the caffeine and stress. The doctor then gave me an X-ray with a device that looked very old. I was able to get dressed and he told me it wasn't a big deal to get an exam, he saw that I was nervous, but probably not that I had the flu. He didn't check my temperature.
I was reassured, I told my parents that everything had gone well and that I didn't even have to take my pants off. It was actually the first time I had discussed the topic of a doctor's genital examination with my parents. After the school visits, they never asked me if the doctor did it (or I don't remember). My mother must have guessed since she had attended the first school visit.
It had not gone so well since I was admitted with a restriction, I should have a second exam at the end of the apprenticeship. I was never called in. There is no occupational medicine in Switzerland. My job did not require periodic reviews for safety reasons. I only had a lung x-ray once.
