A total system cleanout is a multi-stage process.
The stomach empties a part of it's content into the small intestine about every 20 minutes
The small intestine empties part of it's content into the large intestine at a similar interval, but almost never in sync.
So, what this means is a multi-stage approach is needed.
I do system cleanouts about 3-4 times par year No more than 4.
The stomach is best cleared by fasting.
I actually keep a couple of closed-top jugs full of water with a bar of Ivory soap floating in them all the time. I make sure to shake both of them well before going o wok the morning before the cleanout
I start the day before. I shake up those jugs of soapsuds before getting dressed for work, Breakfast is normal, Lunch, I eat the same things I normally eat, but half as much of each thing. After 4 PM I cut off all dairy products. When I get home from work, I shake up the soapsuds again After 6, all alcohol and caffeine. No solid food after lunch at all. Fruit juices can't have pulp. I drink some Gatorade or Powerade before bed. After shaking the soapsuds jugs yet again.
I wake up early around 4-AM and take 30mg of bisacodyl orally with plenty of water. Unless I have a bisacodyl mini-enema then I only take 20 mg at that time Also shake the soapsuds up yet again.
I spend the next hour or so, getting my twins, husband, dog, and house squared away where they can live without me until at least noon.
Then the hour after that I spend setting up the bed, getting the enema bag out, getting the soapsuds shaken well one last time, and getting the air out of the hose.
I use my 3-qt "Paris" HWB style bag.
I hop on the scale and do the math for the Epsom Salt so I don't OD on Epsom Salt. I measure it out.
Then I pour the soapsuds in the bag until it's about half full
Then I add the Epsom Salt.
I then top it off with the hottest water I can get, so that once I attach the hose, I essentially have the plain tap water on the top, the soapsuds on the bottom.
I turn it over several times, at least 4 or 5 between the en-suite bathroom and the bed. I set it on the bed, not hanging just yet. I'm normally dressed in a knee-length nightgown or dorm shirt at that point, If not I change into that.If I have the bisacodyl enema I get in Simms position and inject the mini-enema Lie there at least 10 minutes. I then g back in the bathroom and pee, so that there is no pressure in the lower abdomen that is not caused by the enema. THEN I hang the enema bag from the hook on the ceiling Then attach the fared nozzle.
I get into knee-chest position. I'm careful not to do knee-neck, which is t easy on someone who is well endowed like myself. I then take the 3-qt ESS enema, Takes about 3 minutes to get the whole 3-qts in. I do what I need to in order to retain it 15 minutes. Deep breathing, bite rag. twist rag whatever it takes, as long as I stay in position. I user a flared nozzle so I leave it in to hep with retention. Typically it takes 20-25 minutes to fully work it's way out, even though I get a strong expulsion when first sitting down on the toilet.
I lay around for a for a few minutes until I feel ready, then I take a soapsuds only enema without rinsing the bag, so a little Epsom Salt is left
That is usually the hardest enema in the series to hold. I always take at least one more, for a total of 3. If the third one returns clear I'm done. When that does not happen, I take a fourth one, although I really don't feel like it at that point, I always finish the job. I HAVE had to keep going after the fourth enema in the series. Not common but it HAS happened. AS many as it takes!!!
After I get a clear return, I dink a bottle of Magnesium Citrate just to be sure I got everything. Typically it kicks in after 45 to 90 minutes. I pretty much lie in the bed till it does it's thing.
So, the stomach is cleared by fasting, the large intestine by enema and the small intestine by laxative. Although that bisacodyl only really directly affects the large intestine it is so strong that it speeds up the whole process. The releases from the small intestine to the large DO become more frequent and larger, so it DOES clear the small intestine which is the hardest part of the digestive tract to clear.
