My first adult medical exam was for a job when I was 16, the firm I had applied to sent me to a small doctors practice in town, cheap I guess, there were others there around my age and another boy who had applied to my firm for a job, his name was Ken and we had to wait for about an hour until the doctor saw us together, we had to go down to a basement office and undress to the waist, the doctor seemed an old guy, a bit bumbling I thought, Ken was the first to be examined and the doctor did the usual stuff, eyes and ears and joint checking and listening to the chest and back, then asked Ken to undue his trousers and push then down and then his underpants, I had a good view of his bare bum and I sort of got aroused and listened to the doctor ask him to cough, then to my surprise he asked Ken to turn round and bend over to examine his bum, I saw Ken was semi erect and red faced as he looked at me sitting waiting my turn, the doctor put on a rubber glove and fingered his bum and Ken jerked upwards as his fingers entered his bum.

I gulped realizing that this was going to happen to me, and then it was over and the doctor called me over and did all the same tests to me, when it came to undoing my trousers I was shaking and had trouble undoing them, when I pushed down my briefs my hard cock sprang up, I was mortified but the doctor took it in his stride and felt my balls and had me cough and then turn round and bend over and touch my toes, Ken was staring at my hard cock and smirking as the doctors fingers entered my bum and I too jerked up slightly, when it was all over I was told to dress and joined Ken and he watched me dress smiling at me, the doctor handed us the completed forms and we left to go back to the firm to hand them in.

My first adult physical exam was at the age of 24, and in fact was pretty much the first physical exam I had ever received, period. It was for a pilots Licence and was by a semi retired doctor in his suburban house. His wife was his nurse/assistant. They were both very old school and 'by the book' and so there was absolutely no short cuts. The exam I think took a full hour at the very least.

My first "adult" exam was when I was 14 years old. Except for the rectal, my yearly physicals haven't changed at all since then. I undress to my underwear (at 14 I wore briefs, now I wear boxer briefs) and wait for the doctor. Checks ENT, glands, heart, lungs, feels abdomen, reflexes, neurological check. Then says "hop off the table and slide those down." He palpates my penis, checks for testicular cancer and (when I was younger) hernias (now the doctor says, "if you had a hernia, you'd probably know it"). As I said, other than the DRE, that's about it and it's been that way since 8th grade.

My first adult physical was when I was in my early 30s (6-7 years ago). I'd just never gone to the doctor through college or the first part of adulthood even though I had insurance and thus it wasn't like it was a money issue to not go. I'd been having some upper respiratory issues that I just couldn't shake so called to make an appointment. Since I'd never seen the doctor before (even though he'd technically been my pcp for almost a decade) I had to go in for a full physical (and by the time they could fit me in, I'd finally managed to shake whatever had been bothering me which was the whole original reason for calling in the first place). The exam was pretty thorough with me in just my underwear (knit boxers) and wrapping up with me dropping them to my knees so he could check for a hernia and a quick look at my penis and testicles. The doctor didn't require a prostate check until age 40 but strongly encouraged it so I said sure whatever. Interestingly (but probably not unsurprisingly) I saw that doctor pretty regularly for 4 more years and I never had to drop my pants with him (though I've had hernia checks with my subsequent pcp and my prostate checked when I had to see a urologist).

My first adult physical was when I was heading off to college. I was 18 and hadn't been to the pediatrician in a couple of years. My mom made an appointment with a family practitioner in town.

My physical for college probably qualifies as my first adult physical as no parent accompanied me to the doctor's office and I received my first DRE at that time. As far as I can remember, the rest of the exam was unremarkable, but, as I have posted on this before, the DRE was weird. I did not know enough at the time to realize the DRE was non-standard. I was lying on my back on the exam table with my pants and undershorts removed. The doctor, an older male, had me assume the "bicycling position" with my hips elevated and supported by my hands and my legs sticking up, hips and knees flexed, if you can visualize that. In that position, the doctor was pushing his finger downward to insert it into my rectum. It was years later before I realized how strange that exam was.

I'm going to use the DRE as qualifier for me as well. Maybe 19-20 and very shy at the time. Older male doc (the type that was probably ripping a cigarette in the hall between patients). Over the end of the table, feet spread, then HELLO. Memorable.

I've posted about what the difference between a first adult physical and the exams that came before that first one below. Having to strip down and wear a exam gown or having a first rectal exam or both for guys is probably where the difference is. I remember being told to strip down completely, put on the gown that was sitting on the exam table, and then being told to sit on the table to wait for the doctor to return to the room. It was a shock and I'm sure that I looked embarrassed as the doctor is giving me those explicit instructions. It then was weird to be completely stripping down in the doctor's office, briefly being nude and trying to figure out how to wear that gown with the open back. I wasn't given anything to cover my legs so once I sat on the table, I was very conscious of being exposed because the gown was short. Plus I'm sitting with my bare butt on the paper covering the table and feeling exposed in that direction too. I wasn't sure where this exam was going but it was obviously not going to be just a quick checkup. And it wasn't.

I'll say my first adult physical was one that I scheduled for myself. I was mid twenties. The biggest difference for this exam was the questionnaire which included several questions about my sexual activity. The exam went pretty much like any except that the doctor said u needed to be tested for STDS. He told me I should use condoms and said everything looked okay and the nurse would be back to collect a sample. She returned and took a urethral swab and left some lab orders for blood tests. She said I could get dressed. After that I returned every six months for STD tests until I married.

Even though I did not receive a DRE, I had a physical my junior year of college in which it was the first time i had to wear a gown. It came to about mid thigh and it was paper.

The doctor did the questions with me fully dressed then pulled out the gown and instructed I strip down and put on the gown. He made it clear to take off everything, but I left on underwear. First thing upon his return, he weighed me. With the open back, I guess he saw my underpants. As I was walking back to the table he said, "the underwear should come off as well".

At age 18 and just out of high school I hired into an industrial firm that required a complete head to toe physical exam. I was in my briefs until the genital exam - cough twice, each testicle palpated, penis palpated, foreskin retracted ("any problems with your foreskin as it is a little tight"), squeeze tip of glans penis so that the pee slit opens and the doctor visually inspects the hole. Get dressed. NO DRE. ???? My first DRE was age 15.

I went to college that fall - 4 years. Physical Education was included in the curriculum but no physical exam was required. Middle school and High school required that I have annual complete physical exams. Every summer between college I re-hired back into the industrial firm which required the same physical exam as previously described.

Jasondel: What did you think when the doctor told you that your underwear had to come off too? Did you do it then and how did the rest of your exam go?

I guess my first adult physical would be from a couple of months ago. I am now 21 years old. I live in the town where I go to college now so I found a new doctor and set up an appointment. This exam was the first time I had to wear a gown. I was fully dress when the doctor came in. We talked for a bit, then he pulled out the gown and told me he would step out while I undressed and put it on. He didn't say I needed to be completely naked under the gown, so when he left I just decided to be naked under the gown since I would hopefully end up naked away. He came back in and did the usual things; ears, eyes, breathing, etc. Then he had lay down and lower the gown from my chest to check my chest out. He then had me stand up and take off my gown because he was going to give me a genital exam. I was already hard before I stood up to take the gown off. During the genital exam he looked up at me and asked me if I give myself regular exams, I said no. He then went on to tell me how to do it and how often to do it while still holding my penis. After the genital exam he told me I was done and could get back dressed.

Even though the doctor didn't say that you needed to be nude under the gown, you probably made the right decision to strip down completely and put on the gown. There are two choices when told to undress and put on a gown, leave your underwear on or take it off and I'm guessing that most doctors prefer that you have nothing on under the gown. If the doctor wanted you to keep your underwear on, he or she would have said so. How many of you have been left wondering how far to undress when told to undress and on a gown? Not many, I wouldn't think.

I don't remember having any doubt about what I was asked to do if told to undress and put on a gown. I remember one or two doctors or nurses who told me to keep my underpants on under the gown, but those always came down anyway later in the exam. Most doctors or nurses have told me to undress completely, including underwear, so I didn't have that question. The last time I was told to put on a gown at a doctor's office, the nurse told me "everything off and underpants too." My current doctor doesn't use gowns for male patients or at least I have never been given one.

I am 35. I got my first adult physical at 18. Rectal exam was part of it. Short little fat guy.

I was 18 (23 now) and had just finished school and was about to start uni. It was to register with the doctor I still see for annual exams. As a new patient he spent about 40 minutes giving me a complete check over. The following month I went through an equally thorough exam at the uni medical centre. For both exams I was naked for a good proportion of the time.

Yes, I remember it well. It was for entrance for Uni. The Uni doc was cool, didn't seem much older than me at the time. It was a full head to toe exam, medical history, family history and blood test. A TB jab too. I was in boxers for the majority of the exam but was naked for the usual parts.

My first adult (non-pediatrician) physical would've been when I was away at college. I remember nervously calling the UGA health care center and scheduling a "well physical."

The exam itself wasn't particularly memorable. Probably got cursory testicular and hernia exams. Definitely didn't get a rectal exam. That wouldn't come until many years later.

I remember it well. 1970 was the last year I had a school medical technically as a child (I was 17)..that was in the Summer term. Just two months later ( I had just turned 18 and so was now legally an adult ), I had to have medical prior to going to University. There was an Education element to the course, likely to lead to PGCE. The Department of Education and Science required all potential students to undergo a full medical, including chest X rays and TB screening.

What a difference your as between those two medicals. Not so much in the actual procedures ( which were more or less the same!! ) - but in the way I was treated. Much more courtesy and respect. 'Invited' to do things as opposed to being somewhat brusquely just ordered to do it. So instead of sonething like " Strip down to your vest and pants" - and having to do it more or less in front of the doctor - it was more: " Would you mind going behind the screen and undressing please? Just put your clothes on the chair and then sit on tbe examination table.I'll be with you in a few minutes. Take off everything apart from your underwear - if you'd be so kind." I was not used to such courtesies!!

The exam itself was pretty routine. Height / weight, chest / waist measurenents. BP, eyes, ears, nose, throat, mouth etc. Reflexes, stethoscoping, abdominal palpation etc., etc. Finally, of course....but professionally / politely." Now, if you can just slip your underpants off please....I need to do anal and genital examinations..." The anal inspection was visual ( shining a light up my hole). The testicular and penis examinations (incl. hernia procedure ) was routine. The doctor pronounced that everything seemed to be fine and announced that I couldget dressed and go. The exam was at my local health centre. The X rays were done in one of those mobile units which was parked outside the buildings complex. 47 years ago now but I still remember the day clearly.

First exam I was 19, was during the entrance portion for military service..

Mine was for college. I saw an internist for complete physical. Still remember at end of exam I was standing and he told me to lift the gown up and (using gloves) he slid down my boxers and did a brief testicular exam. Very embarrassing !

Mine was 28, going off to the military. It was quick and routine, although in line with 30 other dudes.

I believe I was about 17 for my first adult physical in Brazil. I was very nervous and excited and I remember getting an erection in the waiting room that thankfully went way during the actual exam.

When it was my turn, I went into the doctor’s office. He was sitting behind a desk and started asking initial questions, age, eating habits, etc.

After the initial talk, the doctor told me to go to the actual exam room behind a partition and strip to my underwear. He came into the exam room and checked vitals, height, weight, blood pressure, etc. He told me to lie on the exam table and checked my abdomen, then told me to lower my underwear. So I was lying on the table with my underwear by my knees and genitals exposed. I was feeling very vulnerable and self conscious. The doctor wasn’t wearing any gloves and carefully checked my genitals, rolled each testicle, checked the penis, etc. I didn’t get hard, but when I put my underwear back on, I noticed a wet spot.

I expressed concerns about my penis size. He said everything was normal, but agreed with my pediatrician that my testicles seemed underdeveloped.

I'm 45 now and live in the US. For my last physical I just took my shirt off and there was no genital/rectal exam. That seems to be the norm now.

When I landed my first full-time job out of college, I opted in for the least expensive health care plan my employer offered. When I went in for my annual physical, they had me in a gown for the entire exam, the nurse did all the usual preliminaries, and the doctor I had signed up to see saw me for all of 10 minutes. (For a point of reference, my pediatrician was not only thorough, but really good about engaging with the patient.) And after all that, they tried to tell me I was borderline diabetic. I had been getting an annual physical since the sixth grade and never had any physician feedback that would signal that this was a potential issue for me. And it was especially odd since I've no family history for that condition. In any case, I switched doctors the following year and thankfully found a physician who spent the time needed to attend to his patients and address any questions or concerns I had about my health. And I checked out totally fine the following year--who knows what would have happened if I stayed with that other practice.

My first adult exam happened when I was 18. My pediatrician had decided that it was time for me to move up in the world so he provided me with a list of doctors to pick from. I looked over the list and looked up all the doctors at home. I soon selected a family doctor who was described as thorough and took his time by his patients. It was the first exam that I went to by myself. The nurse weighed me, took my height and blood pressure before ushering me into an exam room. She asked me some general medical questions before telling me to strip everything off. I was quite shocked by this as my pediatrician had only had me move my clothing around when an area needed to be examined. I soon took everything off and sat up on the exam table. The doctor introduced himself and asked me some questions about my health care experience in the past. Knowing from my medical records that I had experienced some anxiety with medical exams he proceeded to tell me that he would only examine an area if I gave him permission to do so. He preformed an ENT exam with a nasal speculum. Something completely new. Next he used his stethoscope to listen to my heart and breathing. He then proceeded to ask me if I wanted him to perform a male breast exam. Never having such a thing performed before I allowed him to do so. He had me sit up and lay down while using his palm to palpate my chest and nipples. He then pinched my nipples to check for a discharge. He then checked my joints and reflexes. Running his hands up and down my arms, thighs, and legs. Next he asked if I wanted my genitals examined. He proceeded to tell me that this would be different as I was now 18. I told him that this was fine. First with me laying down he examined my penis by feeling it up and down the shaft and spreading the meatus in his gloved hands. He then moved on to my scrotum and testicles while having me hold my penis so it did not interfere with the examination. He rolled my testicles for a good 30 seconds each and felt the cords in my scrotum. While doing this he also pulled out a Orchidometer and told me the volume in ml of my testicles. I had never had this done before and was quite embarrassed. Sensing my shame the doctor asked me if it was alright to proceed. I said that I was alright. He then inserted his finger into both inguinal canals and asked me to cough. Which I did so. My scrotum was beginning to tighten so he had me jump up and down. Then proceeded to repeat the process with me standing up. He then asked me if I wanted my rectal area and prostate examined. I asked him what was the purpose of a prostate exam. He said in my age was to see if it was causing any of the urinary issues with my bladder. Knowing that my bladder did seem to have trouble holding in urine I gave him permission. He then told me to bend over and grab my ankles. I bent over and grabbed my ankles not being the most flexible person in the world. He lubed up my anus with some KY jelly and then inserted two fingers into my anus. I had never had anything go into my anus so this was an uncomfortable experience. After he removed his digits he told me that everything seemed fine. He asked me if I had any questions or concerns. I then proceeded to ask to show me how to perform a self testicular exam. He told me how to do the exam, then put on a new pair of gloves to demonstrate with my own testicles, next he helped me feel my own testicles and cords before asking me to do one by myself while he watched. I was not expecting quite a thorough teaching but I was glad to have the knowledge. He thanked me for being such a good patient and he looked forward to seeing me in a year.

Have Not had one yet, Still in the process of moving hope to find someone who takes my insurance. These experiences though are really nice to the minds eye though. Hell i havent even had a lil bit of kinky fun in years.

I was 22 and recently graduated from undergraduate school. I had been accepted to business school and needed a physical form completed for the university. I got the name of an internist from a family member and scheduled an appointment. I went to the appointment from a summer job I had at a bank so I showed up in a dress shirt and tie along with dress slacks and cap toe oxfords. The doctor had his office in a building with multiple other physicians who shared a common reception area. I checked in and waited anxiously since this was the first new doctor I had seen since age 11. The doctor came out with the patient he had just finished with and called my name. His portion of the office which he led me into was a private office with his desk and an examination room beyond this which was visible from his personal office space. He had me sit across from his desk, I handed him the form I had from the school, he glanced at the form and the history portion of it which I had completed. He told me to go into the next room, take my shirt off, and have a seat on the table. The table was a rather high flat top bench with an upholstered top with a table paper roll. There was a four legged step stool next to the table which was necessary to use to mount the table due to its height. I took off my shirt and set it on a side chair near the table and stepped up and sat down. The doctor came in and came over to me. He put the blood pressure cuff on me and took my pressure. He then did an exam of my eyes. He felt my neck and then listed to my heart and chest. The. He said "loosen the top of your pants and lie back." I was not exactly positive what he meant but I decided to unbuckle my belt, unhook the pants, and unzip about half way. He then stood over me and felt the abdomen. Then he took a step back and said "step up on the platform facing me and drop your pants AND (emphasized) shorts." The sick feeling hit my stomach since I know I am going to have to let a strange doctor see my penis for the first time. I was almost quivering as I stood on the stool and finished unzipping and then lowering the pants and my white briefs to about mid thigh. He said "turn your head and cough" twice and did not even touch me. Then he said "ok, we're done."

I’ve had two physicals recently with different doctors and I’ve been expecting full physicals like how you all mention. Sadly, the doctors don’t even check my testicles. I’m really wishing for a full exam like you all.

I would have to say mine was when I was 14, when I had moved to Texas with my parents and needed a physical for school. It was my first complete exam, including giving a blood and urine sample, whiich didn't bother me.

The nurse ushered my mother and I into the exam room, and I stripped to my briefs. After a while Dr. W. entered, and interviewed me. After he took my vitals and did the HEENT portion, he told my mother to go wait in the lobby. Seeing I was taken aback, he said he thought I'd be more comfortable that way. I was.

He was in his 30s, well-built, with hair to his collar and a mustache. He was nice, but firm: I felt compelled to follow his every direction without question. He proceeded to listen to my heart and lungs; I was very skinny @ 6'0 and 105 lbs, but I had a muscular chest and flat, tight abs and a deep innie navel. I later learned that I was so thin that he could hear the blood flowing through my heart. I lost focus as I stared straight ahead and obeyed the doctor's commands.

When he had me lie down for the abdominal and genital exams, I breathed deeply, and Dr. W told me to relax as he counted from 10 to 0. I did as I was told, and drited into a hypnotic trance. Dr. w. told me I was hypnotized so I would not be nervous or emabarrassed when he checked my genitals. I felt him percuss and palpate mt abs, and listen for bruids. He then Put his finger in my navel to check for a hernia there. He then tickeled my nevel, and I giggled. Then he did the genital exam, but I was so relaxed I barely noticed, except that it felt good.

At the end of the exam. he sat me up, and awakened me. He then left the room holding my shirt, and I had to wait while he talked to my mother until he opened the door and tossed it to me.

One of the best exams I ever had. That was in August, 1979. I'm 53 now.

My first complete physical as an adult was when I was 24. Previous to that, the last time I had a physical was when I was probably about 16, and it wasn't nearly as thorough as this one that I experienced. I found this doctor at a local medicenter here in our city and made an appointment to come and see him. I was nervous about this whole experience but since it had been so long, I decided that I should have a complete physical to make sure everything was alright.

When I was called into the exam room, I took a seat on a chair in the corner and waited for the doctor to come in. When he did, he introduced himself as "Dr. Campbell" and seemed very pleasant. At this point in my life, I still hadn't come to terms with my sexuality and I guess I also found him to be quite handsome as well. We talked and he asked me all of the pre-exam questions that doctors do, and then when we were finished, he said that he was going to step out of the room and asked me to strip down to my underwear and socks. After he left, I did as he requested and had a seat on the exam table sitting there only in my boxers and socks.

Dr. Campbell came back into the room shortly after and started off the exam pretty much how I was expecting things to go, Ears, nose, throat, blood pressure and he listened to my heart and lungs. He then asked me to lay on my back on the exam table and that's when things got a bit more interesting. Dr. Campbell started pressing around my abdomen like I remembered, and then as he started pressing around my lower abdomen, I felt my penis start to shift a bit inside my boxers. I didn't think too much about it until he said "You are at that age where we should check you for lumps, Please slip your boxers down to your knees". For some reason, I wasn't expecting that, and when I did, me penis was fully erect and poking straight up as I lay back down on the table. He was very nonchalant about it and just told me to try and relax. As he started feeling my testicles, all I could think about was how embarrassed I was but how I enjoyed this good looking doctor feeling my testicles like that.

That was pretty much the end of the exam. After that he let me pull my boxers back up, and yes, I still had a very strong erection making them tent up. He said that I was healthy, gave me a requisition for lab work and then left the room.

I got dressed and left the clinic but all I could think about was what just happened and how my erection would not go down as I kept playing the exam over in my mind. I ended up going home and masturbating over the experience.

I have actually been seeing Dr. Campbell for 25 years now (I am almost 50) and I still do get a bit nervous when I go in for my annual physicals. They are still a huge turn on for me and I still get erect when he examines my testicles and even more erect when he examines my prostate.
