Hey guys, do you remember your first adult physical? How old were you? New doctor?

Describe the exam.

And how old are you now?

A couple years ago I switched doctors and went to a new gay doctor(since I am gay). My last doctor had not done anything to me really in years! On my first visit he asked lots of questions! Instead of opting to do a physical at that time he wanted to do blood work. Luckily he found out I have elevated cholesterol and need to be on some meds for it. A couple months latter I went back to him and he did a full exam. He didnt let nothing get by. It made me feel good to know that I was checked out!

My first was in my mid 20's. A complete exam including blood and urine tests. I had to get completely undressed and wear one of those silly gowns that opens in the back.

The Doctor was in his late 40's. Friendly but very professional.

In addition to the usual stuff he examined my penis and scrotum and gave me (my first) prostate exam. He was very thorough with that too, working his finger in deep and all around. It actually felt rather nice, even a little arousing, but my penis remained quite flaccid.

The entire thing took about three-quarters of an hour. I'm in my 60's now and I've had a few similar exams like that since but that first one was memorable.

Lets describe the exam from start to finish. I am sure everyone would love reading the details.

I wrote this earlier for another posting but it fits as my "first adult physical" since it is a detailed description:

When I was in college, I had what I thought was a minor health issue (a swollen gland in my neck) but it did not go away for a couple of weeks. My girlfriend made me go to the student medical center to have it checked out I saw a young doctor there who didn't do any exam other than ask me some questions and look at the swollen spot on my neck. He thought that it was probably not anything to worry about but he wasn't sure. So he referred me to an internist who had an office off campus and who had agreed to accept referrals of students and charge the university medical center. I wasn't expecting to see another doctor and wasn't sure what an internist was. I took the referral slip with the internist's phone number and, after my next class, called his office to see when I could get an appointment.

I was surprised when the internist's receptionist told me that the doctor had an open appointment time that afternoon. I still had two more classes but the time that she offered me was after those. She told me that the doctor needed about an hour for his first-time patient appointments so I was wondering why that was.

I arrived at the internist's small office a few blocks from the campus and the small waiting room was empty, except for me. After checking in with the receptionist, I waited a few minutes before the doctor opened a door and greeted me. He took me back to an exam room. I didn't expect more to happen than had happened at the student medical center but I wasn't nervous about seeing this doctor at all. He asked me a lot of questions about my medical history, my family medical history and some about the swollen gland in my neck. I was surprised about the questions but figured that I couldn't have anything seriously wrong with me at age 20.

Then I did get a surprise. The internist told me that he needed to do an exam and pulled out one of those exam gowns from a drawer underneath the exam table. He told me to take everything off and put the gown on. I remember him saying, "Undress completely including your underwear and socks and put the gown on with the open part in the back". He said that he would be back in the room in a minute and that, once I was changed, I should have a seat on the exam table. I was shocked to be getting an exam and having to change into a gown but I hurriedly stripped down and put the gown on to cover my front. I was worried that he might come back in the exam room while I was changing and I had trouble figuring out how to tie the gown in the back because I had never worn a gown for an exam before. I got the top tie done at the back of my neck but not the middle tie. I sat up on the table and waited for a minute or two until the doctor came back in the room. I had left all my clothes piled on a chair and wondered whether I should have hung my shirt and jeans on a hook somewhere.

The internist started with my head and neck and checked out the lump in my neck. He checked my eyes, ears, nose and neck and then lowered the top half of the gown to my waist so he could listen to my heart and lungs. When he put his stethoscope on my back, I was thinking that my bare rear was showing. Then the doctor had me lie down on my back on the table and pushed on my stomach and tapped my chest. He then covered my top half with the gown and lifted the lower half up so that it was now lying on my chest and my bottom half was exposed. He checked my feet and legs and then around my groin. He didn't check me for a hernia in the usual way. He just moved my weiner out of the way and felt my balls while I was still lying on my back.

Then the internist pulled the gown back down over my lower half and asked me to sit up slowly and retry the gown tie at my neck. He asked me to get off of the table. I wasn't sure what was going to happen. Once I was standing in front of him, the doctor told me to turn around and face the table. Then he told me to bend over the table and put my chest on it. I did as he said and was self-conscious that the gown was open in the back and my butt was totally exposed as I bent over the table. He told me that he needed to check my rear. I thought that he meant that he was going to look, but he put on one of those exam gloves and put some lubrication on it. I was watching him as he did this at a small counter near the head of the exam table. He came back to me and inserted his very large finger in my rear. I was totally shocked to have this done for the first time. He felt around and I had a feeling like I was going to pee but I didn't. When he pulled his finger out, he told me to sit back on the exam table. I am sure that I had a red face from embarrassment but he didn't seem to notice. He told me that he would see me again in two days but that he wanted to run some blood tests first and that the nurse would be right in.

He sent the nurse in to draw some blood from me while I was still in the gown. When she was finished, she told me that I could get dressed. I got out of the gown and put my clothes back on and left his office.

When I got back to my apartment, my girlfriend was there and wanted to know what happened. I told her that I had seen the internist and that he had done an exam, but that I did not know yet what he thought. She was curious about what happened at the doctor's office but I didn't tell her the whole story because I was really embarrassed. I was nervous about telling her about the whole thing even though I thought that my exam was more like what she experienced during her checkups. I think that she guessed that I had had a very thorough exam. Her dad was a doctor in her hometown so she knew alot about medical exams and wanted to go to medical school. She kept bringing up the subject of my doctor visit over the next week or two and I know that she talked to her dad about my situation once on the phone. Gradually, I told her more, especially about being totally surprised to get a full exam for the first time.

I saw the doctor a couple of days after this first visit and he thought that my swollen neck was just a minor infection and gave me an antibiotic cream to put on it. I was fine in a week.

I had previously posted this in the section "How the magic started" but it is applicable to this post. I was getting my college entrance physical when I was around 18.

The school sent me a medical clearance form which I needed to have completed and returned with my various forms for student housing, etc. My regular doctor could not see me for several weeks so I made an appointment at a local immediate care medical clinic.

I went down to the clinic after work, checked in at the front desk and completed the clinic’s required paperwork. The nurse called my name and led me into the back office. Once inside, she checked my vital signs, height and weight and had me provide a urine sample. After that, she put me into an exam room. As the nurse was leaving the room, she instructed me to remove my shirt, shoes and socks and sit up on the table and wait for the doctor. As instructed, I took my shirt, shoes and socks off, climbed up onto the table and waited. All of the physicals I had previously (for camp, etc.) were very basic and cursory and I figured this one would be the same.

After about ten minutes, the doctor came in. He appeared to be in his early sixties and seemed somewhat grumpy. He had the form the college had sent me. He reviewed it and asked a few other basic questions about my health. After the brief health history review, the doctor started the exam. Everything was pretty standard and similar to what I had experienced in previous exams. He checked my eyes, ears, nose and throat then listened to my heart and lungs. Once that was finished, he checked my reflexes then examined my feet. He then went over to the counter and made notes on my chart. While he was writing his notes, he told me to take my pants off and stand on the floor.

I was really surprised. I absolutely wasn’t expecting to have to take my pants off. I took my pants off and stood in the middle of the floor in my tighty whities.

The doctor then had me do a series of exercises to check my range of motion while he stood there and watched. He instructed me to stretch towards the ceiling, bend over and touch my toes then finally squat down and duck walk across the exam room floor. I felt pretty self conscious as I was doing all this wearing only my underwear.

After this was done, he had me stand up with my hands at my side and he came over and pressed on my back and abdomen with his hands. Then, with no warning whatsoever, he yanked my underwear down to my knees, sat down on the stool in front of me and proceeded to thoroughly examine my penis and testicles and do a hernia check. I was kind of in shock as it happened so quickly.

Once that was done, he walked over to the counter and told me to stand at the side of the exam table, bend over and lay my chest flat on the table. My school district did scoliosis screening throughout middle school and I innocently thought he was going to check my spine. I pulled my underwear back up and got into position. The doctor turned around, saw me and barked “Leave your underpants down.” I had the shocking realization what he was going to check when I looked back and saw he had put on gloves and had a tube of K-Y in his hand.

I pulled my underwear back down and got into position. He placed one of his hands on my lower back. Then (again with no warning) he quickly shoved a lubricated finger up my butt and gave me my first prostate exam. I was mortified as the prostate exam gave me a huge erection. As quickly as it started, he pulled his finger out and instructed me to stand up and turn around. Thoroughly embarrassed by my erection I reluctantly turned around. He examined my penis one more time and announced “No abnormal discharge. Go ahead and get dressed.” then stripped off his gloves and washed his hands. He finished filling out the form, wished me good luck in school and told me to pick the completed form up at the front desk on my way out. With that he left the room and I finished dressing and left.

I had my first adult physical when i was 16. It was a pre puberty check. Even i was not an adult yet it was my first head to toe exam.

At first i had to answer some questions about my health, if i take drugs and if i had sex already. After i answered all this questions i had to take off my shirt , socks and shoes. I got measured and weighed. After this the doctor took my blood pressure. Then i had to take off my pants and walk through the room so he could see how i walk. Then i had to bend over so he could check my spine. Then he asked me to lay down. He palpated my stomach down to my waist. Then i had to stand up and take off my underwear. He palpated my testicles and asked me to cough. Then my penis and my foreskin was checked. Then i was asked to sit in a chair and the doctor pulled out the stirrups. at first he checked only my rectum. Then he inserted his finger to check my prostate. Now i got a huge erection.

This was my first and most humiliating exam i ever had.

I was in my mid twenties when I saw an advert for a clinic specialising in hair loss treatments. My hair was falling out fast so I thought why not - let's see what they can do. I was passing one day and popped in. I was in luck - they said come back in a couple of hours. I wasn't expecting anything too complex and thought I would just be given some lotion but when I returned I was shown into a room with a doctor and a nurse. After filling in a questionnaire, the doctor said "Now for your medical. We need to be sure there's no reason not to treat you. Just go over there and strip to just your underpants." I was a bit surprised but also aroused. I felt my penis become hard as I removed my socks, shirt and then my trousers. I was wearing blue briefs - not what I'd have chosen for an exam as they weren't just revealing but now had a damp patch of precum on the front, contrasting with the blue. It was a thorough head to toe exam, starting with standing on the scales being weighed in just my undies, sent to produce a urine specimen and then the exam of eyes, ears, throat and so on. Then came the ECG with me lying in the bed for several minutes in just my underpants as the doctor applied lube and attached leads to my chest and legs. The nurse watched on as I hoped she didn't notice what was going on inside my underpants. Next came some bloodwork, making me feel very vulnerable as the needle was stuck in my near naked body. Finally I was asked to stand up again as the doctor carried out the cough test, lowering the waistband of my pants as he did so. Then it was over and I remember the nurse saying "you can get dressed at last". I was glad it was over but also realised how much I'd enjoyed my first physical since schooldays. I left with a supply of hair lotion but also incredibly aroused. Only when I got home could I relieve myself.

Mine was in the 1960's when colleges required incoming students to turn in a physical exam form. I did not have a doctor so my mom made an appointment for me by someone recommended by a neighbor. I checked in with the receptionist and handed her the college form. A few minutes later I was called by a pretty woman in her mid 20's wearing a white nurse dress. She took me to an exam room and said, "get down to your undershorts while I set up an exam tray for the doctor." When I was down to my shorts she had me get on the scale in the room and got my height and weight. She then had me sit on the exam table and put a thermometer in my mouth, got my blood pressure, pulse, and placed her hand on my stomach and said, "breathe normally, I need to measure you respirations." She then stepped into the hallway and told the doctor I was ready. She then sat down at a small desk and wrote some things on my exam form. The doctor came in. He was really fat. He asked me a few questions and then used a scope to look into my eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. He then felt under my arms. He used a stethoscope to listen to my chest and heart. Next he had me lay on my back and pressed on my stomach.His huge hand reached under the waistband of my shorts as he pressed on my bladder and felt groin pulses. "Okay, hop down and face me." He sat on a rolling stool. The nurse was also facing me. The doctor's hands went to the waistband of my shorts and my face felt red as he pulled them all the way down to my ankles. "Step out of your shorts," he said. He then told his nurse to get the gooseneck lamp from the corner and bring it over. She did so, turning it on and pointing the light at my groin. I looked down as his huge bare index finger pushed into my sac and roughly pushed up into me. "Turn your head and cough. Harder. Again." His finger then was withdrawn and moved to the other side and I again was told to cough. I could see the nurse watching me and smiling. Then he took my dick in his big hand and squeezed. Next he felt my sac and rolled each ball between his fingers. "Turn around and bend forward," he said. "Now pull your butt cheeks apart." He just looked. He then had me walk back and forth across the room on the balls of my feet and on the heels, still totally naked. He had me squat several times. He then had me do a duck walk. Finally he had me run in place, then listening to my heart. He then patted my behind, said, "you're fine," and left the room. The nurse gave me a cup and told me to step into the adjoining bathroom and pee in the cup. I did so, coming back and handing her the cup. "Okay sport, go ahead and put on your undies. I just need to draw some blood." She had me sit on the exam table and took a vial of blood. "Okay dear, you did great. Go ahead and get dressed. Your from will be mailed to your college." I left, still red-faced.

Mine was a military medical exam for ROTC at ge 19. It was the classic assembly line examination that was pretty thorough.

I had my first adult exam when I was about 24 I hadn't been to a doctor except for a few colds since I was about 17. I had a new insurance and it allowed me to look up when a doctor graduated from Med School and if the doc was female or male. I found one that was about my age maybe a few years older. I called up and it was a large clinic with about 12 doctors all male except one the female I found in my book. I told the front office lady I wanted to see that doctor for a physical. She replied, "You know she is a female why don't you want to see one of the male doctors". I told her, "why does it matter to you who I see". She could see I wasn't going to be told what to do she said okay no problem. I knew she was Asian, but that is all I knew.

I was led to the room and told she would be in to see me in a few minutes. When she came in she was a knockout hot Asian girl. The kind you see in Japanese car drifting tv shows and youtube videos. She was so cute and had on a tight pair of jeans with a low cut shirt. I could not believe it she was really friendly I had a tough time to look at her in the eyes when she was talking and not look at her body. She checked all the normal stuff and then she said it" I want to do a testicle exam the 20's are the time when you need to check for testicular cancer". She said just drop your pants I could tell she had no problem with a penis or men. She squatted down like you see Asians do the knees bent and I look down I see the top of her head like she is going to go down on me. She starts to feel my balls and I started to get hard my penis was about 2" away from her face. I could not believe what she was doing she went on like this for about minutes she felt every inch of it. She looks up at me and sees my expression then she jumps up and says okay I want to do a rectal I had some bleeding from a hemorrhoid she wanted to check. She has me bend over the table and pokes around then she hands me a paper to wipe my ass with while she talks to me that was kind of strange. I had never wiped my ass in front of anyone at that point. I had a few more cold appointments but when exam time came again I called and they told me she was leaving the practice because she was getting married and wanted to be a stay home mother. I couldn't believe it since then I haven't found a woman doctor that was even close to her. The next doctor didn't even have me take my pants off she only had me take my shirt off. I have a new doctor I just got a few weeks ago it looks good so far but need to make my wellness appointment soon to see if she is as good as my cute Asian doctor was.

I was 23 with a male doctor. Normal physical, hernia exam. very quick

My first adult exam was probably the same as almost every male from the 60's - my draft physical (if you can call it that).

I had mine in Chicago at the induction center and I feel pretty confident saying that you'd have had to been on death's door to fail it. At my pre-induction physical, there was a guy there on crutches that passed - he couldn't even bend over for the digital exam but they passed him.

My first adult exam was when I was 18. I am 23 now.

I was going for my rescue diver certification and it was recommended/mandatory to obtain a ok from your physician. I had just moved to Florida for college, had no doctor, hadn't been to one in over a year, and had only ever seen my pediatrician. I contacted the health clinic who directed me to a local G.P. who worked with the college. This was the first time I had ever used a robe and put it on backwards. The nurse who came in was an older Cuban lady was kind enough to inform me. She did height, weight, oral temp, and bp before leaving. I put the robe back on the proper way and waited.

It turned out that the doctor was probably in her mid to late 30's blond milf. She went through the normall eyes, ears, mouth stuff, and the pretty usual questions. I figured that since I was going to the doctor that I might as well get an STD screen, and ofcourse that was when I got embarrassed. She lifted up the gown exposing me and did a hernia check, quick testical check, and visual inspection. Then she got that swab to swab the urethra out gripped my penis and did that. By the end I was half mast. At the end she was going over the paperwork I brought and said, your pretty young but it doesn't hurt to check might as well do a prostat check. She had me bend over the table lubed up and inserted her fingers into me and palpated my prostate. So there I was bent over the table half mast with a bit of pre-cum leaking out when she hands me the slide and said to wipe it on there. After that she left I went to the nurses station to do blood and a urine sample and left.

I was 29, i didn't have health insurance from my teen years and up until that time. there wasn't anything really invasive. the female doctor gave me a testicular exam and then checked for signs of a hernia. no prostate check. i had a bout of pericarditis when i was 17 so they did an ekg which took some time. the experience was basically unremarkable.

I've posted about this somewhere. There was one group medical office in town. For my early years, my mother, brother and myself entered from the lower level which was pediatrics. There my brother and I stripped to briefs for our shared appointment. So it was a huge leap for me to bike over to the office and enter from the upper level. Adults in the waiting room. No children's magazines. A call from a nurse in the old school white uniform led me to an exam room. I was still instructed to strip to underwear, but she did nothing further after closing the door. I was 15. An eventual knock on the door, the male doctor entered. In his 50's then, or late 40's in the 1960's, he weighed me, checked vital signs, moved literally head to toe, slowly. I followed any directions, to lie back, sit up, stand up, drop my briefs. As previously posted, I so listened to his instructions only that when he requested jumping jacks after the hernia check, it never occurred to me that I could pull my briefs up instead of doing them naked, conscious of my penis bouncing up and down.

My first one, around 25 or so, the NP got my blood work, did an EKG, blood work and then out of the blue she tells me to drop my pants so she can examine my testicles.

She was a lady in her mid 40s, decent looking, small hands...

She rolled the stool over to me and pulled down my underwear and told me I was in the age bracket for testicular cancer so she told me I had to do self checks.

Then she said she was going to examine the penis and noticed I am uncut so she told me she would retract my foreskin.

When she did, I started getting an erection a little bubble of pre-cum came out and when she touched it, the surface of her glove got all sticky and slippery so as she kept checking things, the tip of my penis kept sliding on her glove.

She then pulled my foreskin back in place and told me to get dressed.

As I was about to pull my pants up she told me to wait and handed me some tissues and smiled.

I went there two more years, the third year it was a different NP and when she pulled my pants down and saw I shared my pubic hair she said "oh much easier to examine" and went for it. Same thing with the exception that when she pulled my foreskin back she asked me if it felt tight, etc. while I'm standing there, accumulating pre-cum and starting to get aroused but didn't get to full erection.

I left that practice because they didn't want to check my prostate even though I have a strong family history so I went to a smaller practice.

There after all tests the doctor came in, a Latina lady in her late 30s, very friendly and puts on the gloves and asks me if I want to bend over or lay on my side.

I chose side so she told me to take my pants off and lay down.

As soon as my leg is crossed she says she is going to rub some extra lube because I have a little hemorrhoid and she doesn't want to hurt it.

She added tons of lube and massaged the outside for a few seconds and slid the finger in.

She went digging for gold and I actually moaned and looked back, on reflex, and we made eye contact and she asked me if she hurt me. I told her not at all and I think my face gave it away so there was a little awkardness but we kept it professional obviously.

She turned her finger around and asked if I felt any pressure and told me that it was normal to feel something on my Penis as she poked around.

When she was done, she told me to stand up so she could check the boys.

I had pre-cum all over me, but not a full erection so it was slippery.

She showed me how to do a self exam and then gave me a ton of tissues.

Before she left she told me I could take my time, she didn't need the room and I don't know if on purpose or what, left one glove and the lube out on the counter.

I was alone in the room, not expecting anyone else to come in, so I put the line and that glove to use lol

Ended up leaving the practice because she did some things down the road that I didn't like.

I was 18. Fortunately they went easy on me. Normal things checked, weight, this, that, but nothing "below the belt" (thank GOD).

I wa 18 too. Same as seth92. Doctor checked normal things.. I didnt put my underwear off.

I was 18, but requested the physical (made up an excuse that my college needed it, when they didn't). I actually had to press them a little that it was a full physical and not just a sports physical. They asked at least twice to confirm that, which was funny, since it was as if they were giving me an out to get out of the DRE. Once it was confirmed it would be a complete adult physical, I do remember a nurse setting out a glove and some KY halfway through. And I remember being asked to lean over the exam table. I remember clenching a bit on purpose (to act timid). It didn't phase the female doc.

I was around 22 and had accepted a federal job opportunity, which required a physical. They sent me the form that I was to have the doctor fill in (wish I still had copy of that). In looking it over it appeared I was going to get a rectal. I still can't believe how much more thorough that exam was than they are today, many............years later.

I remember it well, head to toe, female doctor, my mother must of told her, i was the head of household, because, she said, lets make real sure, i was healthy, i was 15 years old. I am 24 years old, now.

I was 28. I had physicals before but they were nothing "special". Some stripped down to underpants and some with just my shirt off. Anyway, I'm 28 and visiting a new doctor to have a look at some swollen glands in my armpit. We did the usual meet and greet, he did preliminary vitals, eye, ear and throat while I was still fully dressed. He then told me he always does a "top to bottom" or "head to toe" exam - it's a long time ago. Asks me to get undressed and I strip down to my briefs (I'm a boxer guy now). Works his way down and tells me to lower my underwear which comes down mid thigh. I get testicular and hernia check lying down.... And here's what I guess makes it an "adult" exam. He tells me to get in a kneeling position and gives me my first and very thorough rectal exam. He knew where everything was up there 😄

Getting a first rectal exam sure qualifies as the first adult physical for guys but the first time stripping down and putting on an exam gown, instead of wearing just underwear, might qualify too, even if there wasn't a rectal. For females, the first gyn exam is probably as adult as it is going to get even for a girl who is not yet 18. My first adult exam involved both the first time in an exam gown (with nothing underneath) and my first rectal exam so there wasn't any question that I had had something new. I was in my 20s and both events were a shock. Getting blood drawn for the first time during a physical exam is also something that doesn't happen much in childhood. How do you define a first adult physical?

IDK, the first time I was ever given a gown I was wearing only underwear beneath. The exam lasted about 3 minutes and was nothing more than listening to my heart and lungs. It probably took more time to undress and get put everything back on. It seems us guys have it easy compared to women many of whom barely make it past 16 or 17 before they're naked and get vaginal and rectal checks at every exam.

I would consider the first time seeing someone other than a peds to be my first adult physical. It happened to be an internist, and thinking back, I think it might have been the very first time that they had me strip completely without underwear and put on a gown. Back then I didn't know how much I hated gowns so I did wear it. I remember being really apprehensive as I got undressed, since most of my previous exams were just in my underwear without a gown. Being told to put on the gown, and also being told to remove all of my clothing, including underwear -- that combination was completely new to me. I wondered what new things the doctor might do to me that required my underwear to be off right from the beginning. I do remember getting a rectal, but that wasn't my first time for that.

I was about 24 or so. I had Just finished trade school after being in the military. I had been blessed with my new apartment, a sweet and reliable girlfriend, along with that first decent job including comprehensive benefits such as a few health insurance options. I opted for an HMO plan and a new doctor affiliated with a very reputable medical clinic. Shortly after I received a welcome letter in the mail from the clinic suggesting I schedule a new patient physical and establish a relationship with my PCP. My last physical was required for school a couple of years ago so I went to one of those slightly shady looking less than professional ubiquitous strip mall walk in clinics. The clinic was in the same strip mall as a personal injury lawyer, a weight loss clinic and "Shakes The Dentist". The locals called it "Kickback Plaza". I did not have insurance at the time so this was a cost effective and less time consuming option than a doctor's office. I did not have a regular doctor at the time either. 50 dollars less in my wallet and 10 minutes later I had my required health form signed for my college years. At the time I received the letter in the mail I really did not think too much about it until I was discussing it with a slightly annoying granola munching health conscious coworker who convinced me to schedule an appointment. My argument being I am young, healthy and fit with no aches or pains. Why should I surrender an hour of my time and a ten dollar copay only to be told something I already know? My girlfriend was also studying to become a physicians assistant so I heard the riot act from her as well. Begrudgingly I scheduled an appointment.

Things did not go exactly as planned. I was expecting to meet with my assigned PCP when a young female doctor in her first year of her residency called out my name, ushered me to a treatment room and subsequently administered my physical. She was about my age so there was some common ground. She was a short cute nerdy type brunette with glasses and a nice looking body. Picture if you will, a slightly curvier and sexier version of Bernadette from "The Big Bang Theory" with brown hair. She seemed a little intimidated by my working class swagger. How long I had it along with any adverse reactions after getting it done. Because I am a runner she paid particular attention to my cardiovascular system, flexilbility and muscular strength. Then those sinking words. " Please stand up. I will need you to remove your shorts for a few minutes so I can conduct an examination of your genitalia and your prostate gland." I was a little hesitant but off they went and I tossed them on the chair with the rest of my clothes. She could tell I was a little uncomfortable and stated "This is my second week in this residency program but believe me you don't have anything I haven't seen before, so just try and relax and I will get it done" She did not perform the testicular exam in haste during which I became erect. She then stated "I know you feel awkward right now. For what it is worth I am not embarrassed at all. It is an expected part of my job and frankly I would be far more concerned if you did not get an erection. You are doing fine".(She almost sustained a concussion as well as a black eye herself 😜). As I was slipping my underwear back on she indicated an anomaly during the auscultation of my heart. My new PCP was then called in to assess the situation herself. There I was once again lying on the table in my boxer briefs while 2 good looking women went about poking, prodding and probing my fit young body. I then had to stand up again and run in place for 3 minutes after which my heart rate was checked by my PCP. Then the panic alarms went off. EKG, blood tests, urine specimen, a chest xray and an exercise stress test were scheduled for a date in the near future. Needless to say worry set in and as I was leaving with a blank look on my face my PCP stopped me for a moment, put her hand on my shoulder looked me straight in the eye and said to me. "I think you will be ok, truthfully. The blood and urine tests are a regular component of your exam. The other tests are a CYA situation and if there is a problem more than likely it is in an early stage and can be easily corrected or controlled. Your medical history indicates you have no chronic health disorders and you are a dedicated runner. You appear to be a physically fit healthy young guy. Your level of intense activity can place your body under a great deal of stress and as you stated you have no apparent symptoms when you are exercising. Hopefully you are just pushing yourself too hard and need to slow down a little. If there is a problem we are here to help you manage it. We've got your back, ok?" I felt a little less worried. In fact the initial shock of my first prostate exam took the back seat (no pun intended) over the actual reality of a possible heart condition at age 24. All in all a very good experience despite the potential bad news. My tests results were negative short of a slight heart murmur. To quote the late Paul Harvey "So now you know...The rest of the story."

I saw the cute and rather perky resident doctor a few times thereafter as I sustained a serious ankle injury from running that required corrective surgery and physical therapy along with a very difficult case of bronchitis.(Remove your shirt, please) Because this clinic focuses their efforts primarily on prevention they also encourage yearly physical exams even for the healthy low maintenance patient such as myself. Eventually she got beyond my old school tough guy exterior and she slowly developed a more relaxed and friendly bedside manner when I was in the exam room. I had the opportunity to speak with her near the end of her residency. She remembered the first time she saw me sitting in the lobby waiting to be summoned. She glanced at my file and put 2 and 2 together: I was her next patient. She informed me she was thinking to herself "Oh wonderful. My next customer is a new patient physical who just happens to also be a roadie for Social Distortion". When she got to know me along with my street like charm and dry self depreciating humor she was actually glad I was on her patient roster. She jokingly stated I made the "top ten list" of the best patients at the clinic based upon how I rated on "the bitch and complain index factor". Despite the obvious cultural and socieoeconic differences between us she enjoyed being able to interact with someone near her own age once in a while.

Since I was freaked out about doctors already and particularly I feared doctors because of my abuse, I haven't gone to a doctor in years after I turned 18 years old.

When I was 24 years old, it was my first time to an adult doctor. A urologist. I had a really bad cold so I took a lot of over the counter medication plus I use to drink a lot of ice tea. I woke up early in the morning to take a piss and I was unable to pee and my lower back was painful. When I did pee, only little bit dripped out and I had blood in my urine.

The type of insurance I had, I was able to go directly to a specialist and I made an appointment first thing in the morning hour. Since they considered it an emergency, my appointment was at 11am. I drank a lot of water and I took a piss at home but it hurt and I saw blood in my urine.

When I arrived at the urologist, I was very concerned and very nervous. I ended up having a female urologist. The nurse called my name and I waited for the urologist to arrive. In the meantime, the nurse took my blood pressure and she took my temperature using the mouth electronic type. I was sitting on the exam table. The doctor came into the exam room within 10mins of me sitting there. She retook my blood pressure because I was super nervous.

The nurse came in the exam room and handed the doctor a cup for me to piss into and while the nurse was in the room, the doctor had me stand and unbutton my shorts and lower them. The doctor was sitting on a stool and rolled over to me and was eye level with me and my penis that was super soft. She told me she was going to run test on my urine and to make an appointment for next week.
