My Mom was very much an advocate of using a good soapy enema to treat a wide variety of childhood ailments. In the summer I often received a variant of my Moms normal soapy enemas. Instead of the usual very very warm almost hot water mixed with Ivory soap my mother would opt for a cool water enema. During her normal enemas by the time she was finished with me I would be a wreck. I would be thoroughly exhausted and soaked with sweat both from the exertion and straining but also from the effects of being filled with water that was actually much hotter than is advised on many of the sites I have visited. There was a mirror on the back of our bathroom door and I remember being able to look at my reflection. My face would be red from crying and all the straining and my hair tussled and matted with sweat.
So often on hot summer days my mom would choose to alter her routine. Instead of her hot water enemas I would be given an enema, still made with Ivory Soap, but with very cool water. I remember these enemas were unbelievably uncomfortable and very crampy. I always had trouble with cramping and bloating with all of my Moms enemas but cramps from the cool water enemas were different. They felt deeper and the pain was much sharper. I was wondering if there are others who remember cool water enemas in the summertime and if their experiences were similar to mine.
