@arttemp , You are right , Whether needing full time or constant daily catheter insertion to drain , One should , If possible get at least yearly urologist checkups . Not all of us can . If you live in or near a city you can be sure to find a doc that can take care of you and if not change to another that can .
Here where I live , At what almost seems to be at the end of the world , A trip to the nearest urologist cost $300.00 round trip , Just the trip . Then there is the cost of the Doctor visit . $1000.00 or more all told . One trip to hospital cost me $30,000.00 dollars for a three day visit , and I had to call for a ride home , another $400.00 . The solution ???? give up my land , give up my freedom , Live where crime is rampant . Live in what is to me a "dirty" world . And if I convert every thing I own to cash I could be homeless in a year or so .
But it's OK . I like living here , I can learn to take care of myself , And I enjoy the fact that I haven't spoke to or seen anyone in over a month .
But what the hell It's all good , We all live where we want or can . Now all that said you are still right , If one lives with a catheter we all need to see a doc as often as we can . I can't . Hence I try to keep every thing "down there" as clean as possible . Lets pass along any tips we have that lets us have an easier day . Such as keep the hair "down there" short or shaved so as to help keep it clean . What do we use to do daily cleaning ? How to treat and or avoid meatiest chaffing . How do we avoid leaking out side the catheter ?
Hay you can find support group's for anything and everything except for catheter wearers . As it is now a doc shoves one in , sends you home and tells you nothing about what to do or how to care for you're self .
