Do we care if a person is gay or straight?

I answered this question before but I had another slant on it tonight. I don't consider myself homophobic. A couple good friends are gay and we have gotten very close over the years. I am not into men, but I will admit I am curious as to how that "side" of the world works. I would have no issues with voting for a gay politician if their positions on important issues aligned with mine, and I have always been in favor of gay rights. I am iffy on the entire hate crime thing though, but that is not gay centric.

On the flip side though, I will admit if I say needed blood, I would prefer to get it from one of my non gay friends. I also would not want it from an intravenous drug user. By the same token I would not want a liver from any of my friends who are sot's or a lung from any of my friends who chain smoke.

I'm mainly straight, but I consider myself a latent bisexual. Many of my fantasies involve sex with another man, mainly receiving anal sex. I fantasize too about becoming a trans-woman, but that one will stay a fantasy, unless doctors figure out a way to make sexual reassignment surgery reversible.

I love to read discussion posts by gay and bisexual men and women who describe how they enjoy having sex with someone of the their own sex. I would never think of saying anything negative to anyone on Zity based on their sexual preferences. I haven't seen any such abuse so far. If I do, I'll report it.

Definitely not!! I feel it adds a lot. Also, as I've said before, I really like reading about men who spank men.

I'm straight and it doesn't matter to me. Who am I to I tell someone else how to live their life. It's the same with religion. I believe in God. Who am I to tell you if you should have a higher power and who it should be.

I have gay friends of both sexes, and I find them to be wonderful people. I am straight myself, and have been hit on by gay men a few times. I always politely decline, usually by saying I am flattered that they like me, but that I don't fly in their squadron, or some other lighthearted statement. I have only been rude once that I can remember, when the man continued to try to pick me up.

Care for the person, not their sexuality. It makes me happy to see such openmindedness among the Zity members. 🌹

No - to me it makes no difference, we are all Human underneath. When I play its more about do I feel comfortable with the people I play with.

No, a persons sexuality does not matter to me at all, whether we're talking about online, or in the real world. My best friend in high school/ roommate in college, came out to me at the end of college. I suspected all along, but never said anything because it wasn't any of my business. Our relationship to this day is the same it's always been, my family and him and his boyfriend still visit each other a few times a year. Plus, in my immediate family, there is a lesbian and a pansexual.

That being said, on zity, I do like to know a person's sexual preference when I'm reading one of their posts. Not to be nosey or judge, but it helps me understand them a little more, or make sense of what they have written. Sometimes, based on the thread or question presented it is obvious, but not always.

It wouldn't be the first outspoken homophobe active in a religious ministry or as a politician, who ends up getting outed or caught as gay themselves.

I don't care what sexual orientation a person is or what gender or alternative they wish to identify as. I think we can all learn a lot about each other and benefit from exposure to a diverse culture. I want people to feel free and safe to be their true, authentic selves. Everyone has something to contribute and we are all the better for it.

Doesnt matter to me. Everyone has stories to tell and I have learnt a lot from gay friends with regard to etiquet and how they may view the world. How else do we learn?

I wouldn't think that anyone who is a member on this site would have negative feelings towards someone just because they are gay.

Don’t care if someone is gay or straight. We have several gay/lesbian friends. I have no problem accepting them and they are real and wonderful people. I don’t like anyone (gay or otherwise) with agendas and who push their gender/sexual/religious or other orientation on you as if you owe them some recognition, try to put you down for “not understanding“ them, or are looking for a reason to be offended.

Open to all. What people are into is simply part of who they are. It’s the whole person I’m interested in, not just this one piece.

People are people. Sexual orientation shouldn't have any bearing on it.

A bit slow here and just found this discussion and I should point out the original OP is no longer here. It does not bother me or trouble me in any way what gender, orientation, etc. It comes down to this, you treat others the way you want to be treated and respected. I have friend of various persuasions and find it all rather interesting. My 1st exposure was a lesbian bar that I would have lunch at on occasion next door to where I worked as I was single and could get a hot meal. Watching and listening to the going on's there, I learned they have the same problems and issues as anyone else in this world does. Down the street from where I lived was a night club that catered to the gay men and men who cross dressed as woman, and one a year was a beauty contest. The community I was a big part of in Washington, DC (Black Rose) got help in the beginning from the gay guys as they were organized, experienced, and they helped us. There are many different groups in the DC area but the majority of them play nice and get along, I have even had invites to play with the gay guys. Comes down to trust and respect! In one way I am surprised this even became a topic as this should be an open and understanding community to all who come here.

I think there are some people on this website who feel threatened by gay people & swear up & down that the’re arrow straight& would have nothing to do with gays & they turn around & say they would accept a blow job from a gay man? I just like sex and dont like relationships,(been burnt too many times),so i’m not gender specific about who i have sex with however i prefer men because we share the same equipment,there is no drama & i dont have to wine & dine them to get into their pants!
