Until recent years as they started gradually scaling back for cost saving reasons, i've had annual physical (wellness) exams at work, so i never bothered to find my own primary care physician because i've been very healthy, and my employer gives me the annual check up anyway. Though now that i'm over 50 & the exams seem to have become less frequent than annually & scaled way back, i have started looking for a pcp in my plan.
I've seen other peers / colleagues in the waiting room on occasion. Seeing them had no effect on me, except for when we were doubly booked and i'd be asked to come back. Disrupts my workday.
Part 1 of my exam with the nurse involved giving blood & urine after fasting since midnight the night before. Clothed except shoes for weight, very elaborate eye exam, BP, glaucoma, every 3 year ekg, they dropped ear exam & lung capacity.
Part 2 with the doc would be scheduled for when results of blood & urine tests were ready. I'd get the stats, doc would review & discuss, then check mouth, ears, eyes, throat, auscultate & palpate chest, abs, & back, knee reflex, hernia check, sometimes testicular (when offered except for the one doc who just went ahead), sometimes prostate when offered.
