I carry a folding portable examination table, padded and with face hole, loose washable covers. Disposable absorbent pads 90 x 60 cm, wipes, tissues, massage oil, KY, Qtips, Gowns, Soft blanket, Antiseptic spray & gel, Latex & Nitrile gloves, Elastoplast tape, Sterile gauze swabs, Catheters & catheterisation packs, Disposable enema set, Surgical scrubs, pens, bottled water.
Stethoscope, ENT set, Sensitivity outfit inc Wartenberg Wheel, BP monitoring, Urinalysis, Reflex hammer, Tuning Fork, Disposable electronic thermometers, 3 Cusco speculums S,M & L, 1 Collins speculum M, 1 Mathieu 3 prong anal speculum, Set Hagar sounds, Ridged forceps various, Scissors, Sterile syringes, Hypodermic & Acupuncture needles, Saline IV grade, E-stim with pads and vaginal probe (probe is left with patient for next consultation), Nipple clamps, Nipple and clitoral vacuum set, Instrument towels, Small torchlight.
I pack these in 2 medium suitcases and the table in a zip cover. They enable me to give a full top to toe examination and a range of treatments as agreed with the patient. I prefer to arrive 1 hour before the consultation so that the room is as redolent of a Doctors office as is possible and the patient presents as naturally as they would normally.
Travel of course in the UK is not a problem. I do examine in foreign lands and this year I shall be in the US and NZ. I take most things (except my exam table, lol) but ask the prospective patient to get their own speculum and such things. Syringes and needles are no real problem (in aircraft hold baggage) as I have a 'sold for purpose' medical kit to secure sterility in remote areas and the manufacturers inventory lists these items. I just top up quantities a little. Most of the disposables can be bought locally. Catheters I can justify with my advanced age, lol (though thankfully I don't need them).
Of course overseas examinations and treatment routines need modifying though with a little improvisation most problems can be overcome.
