I tape-recorded my 6-week checkup following my hysterectomy but not for fetish reasons. There was a big mistake after my surgery and I received an accidental morphine overdose and well, let's just say I had a near-death experience. Thankfully, I was brought back. My parents and boyfriend were there to witness the resuscitation and it traumatized them terribly. The hospital did their best to confuse my family and friends and acted like it wasn't their fault. So I wanted to ask the doc about the incident and have his words recorded for evidence. Unfortunately, he wasn't there when the OD took place and he was snowed by hospital just like my family and the nursing notes had somehow disappeared from my medical record, so we never got to the bottom of it.
Anyway, the exam was relaxed and casual. My gyno's wife was his PA so it was the two of them and me and my boyfriend in the exam room together. It was kind of like two couple chatting except one of us (me) was in the stirrups. The doctor asked if we had had sex yet. I was thrown off by his question because I was wanting to ask him something but he mistook my blush, ers and ums as embarrassment not as a "wait a minute, I'm staring at the ceiling and can't think straight let me gather my thoughts" kind of way. He immediately followed up the question with, "Did it help?" Then caught himself and said, "I mean, did it hurt." And we all giggled together at his slip of the tongue. (Oh, that sounds inappropriate.)
Anyway, I didn't get the info I wanted but listened to the tape in case there were instructions my boyfriend forgot to tell me or that I couldn't remember from being in the stirrups. It's hard to concentrate or take notes when you're in that position. It was kind of interesting to hear all the noises and hearing him tell me what he was going to do, telling me what to do and describing everything he was doing to me. He even had his wife/PA examine me and the two of them talked back and forth to each other about my healing and recovery.
I've never considered videotaping an exam. I'm pretty sure that it's illegal without all participants knowing about the camera and that my tape-recording the exam was illegal as well. But I dared not ask the doc for his permission because I was afraid he'd shut down and not tell me the truth about the morphine OD mix up. If you can find a doc to allow it, more power to you. But I wouldn't risk losing the relationship I have with a few good docs just to get my jollies and amuse myself. It's hard to find a good doc.
