Women & Enemas - Why are most women put off by enemas?

Agreed. The sharing of an enema is an intimate sharing. That means trust. Each of us has our own appreciation of the experience, and as messages show, these can be VERY different. And we tend to forget in this forum, that any enjoyment of an enema puts us in a minority group.

So, I don't think women are any more put off from enemas than men are - the majority of women and men don't find them pleasurable. To get a partner to share your pleasure, you have to accept that she (or he) may never find it a pleasurable physical experience. And in the end, if you care for your partner, you don't force them to do something they don't want to do.

My hospital enemas were at least given at less hectic and more convenient times. The process allowed for a more intimate setting without all of the distraction and spectators. Discussion of the process was possible also.

I used to be put off by enemas until I reached age 28. In my childhood I got bulb enemas until age 14. All those insertions made my anus sore so I hated enemas. I met the author of the original post a few years ago in New York. She is definitely an enema queen and an amazing woman. I agree with everything she said. The enema is a discipline tool, it creates discomfort....and personally if the sub is enjoying it too much I get turned off. But here's when the master skills really come up. I'm guessing it comes down to to factors:

Physiology and psychology

With respect to physiology, we're all made a little bit different. I can recall two successive girlfriends I had: one went completely mental, climbing-the-walls-crazy-with-ecstasy when I massaged her 'g' spot, or pretty much anything deep inside her vagina - the walls, or even moving the base of her cervix around.

Furthermore, I would suppose (and perhaps the women could chime in on this) that the bloated, full of fluid feeling might be too reminiscent of their menstrual cycle. With respect to psychological, I'm inclined to agree with many of the other thoughts posted here: perhaps its an association with childhood, or punishment, or ickyness.

Perhaps too, it's a question of power or control. As I understand it, for both men and women our sexual desires are often manifestations of our attitudes towards power and control. Some people are very rigid, controlling types in their everyday or professional lives, and for some that continues into the bedroom, and for others it is the ultimate release to relinquish that control to someone else. Similarly, someone who is perhaps more mild mannered or even meek in everyday life reflects that in their sex practices too, or carries out the fantasies he/she is not comfortable with in real life being totally in control when it comes to sex.

In either case, I wonder if it's often a question of matching a woman's attitude toward power/control to the perception of enemas.

That is, if a woman who is controlling in everyday life and prefers to be controlling as well in the bedroom, having an enema foisted upon (and in) her might not be well received; not because "it's an enema" but because it conflicts with her perception of what she enjoys about sex with respect to power and control.

Perhaps that woman would be more open to giving an enema if was introduced to her from the angle that would appeal to her desire for control.

Similarly, perhaps a woman who preferred to give up control in the bedroom would be more open to an enema if she was persuaded to see not the "ickyness" of it, but that it was a way to be controlled.

Of course, this is all just speculation, but I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on this.

It's all about a male being in control, fear, the messiness of the procedure, and the overall discomfort.

I am afraid that I shall have to disagree with most of you. In order that women will be not putt off by enemas two things should happen:

a. A woman's interest need to be properly aroused.

b. Her introduction to enemas should be slow, kind, not forceful and taking utmost care for her cooperation. In short - a friendly persuation.

Having secured all this - most chances that it will be a hit. One has to remember that enema is an act involving the greatest intimacy and who more than women is sensitive to that?

I believe that if a person is averse to being 'enemized', it is due to factors other than their gender. The act of voluntarily receiving an enema from another is actually an act of putting complete faith or trust in the giver. A number of years ago, there was a management team building exercise which may still be in use which is meant to teach an individual to put complete trust in his team-mates; I think it involved the one individual falling backward, having faith in or trust in his teammates that they will catch him or prevent him from falling and hurting himself. It seems from what I've read, nurses tend to view enamas in three different veins. They view them as for clinical purposes only, are ambivalent about them, or three, recognize that they can be very sexually stimulating for some people. Sadly, my wife - a nurse, tends to view them in terms of #1 & #2. Because she's not into enemas for sexual stimulation herself, she doesn't seem to understand or share my enjoyment for them. Hi, This topic seems to have existed for quite a while. I would agree with those who feel there is an equality between men and women in the like or dislike of the practice. The art of preparing and delivery is of key importance for those who crave the sexuality. The enema for health sake has been mentioned mostly in reference to bygone days. I would tend to disagree with that reference.

I have a friend who is a nurse tell me that enemas rob the body of phosphorus. In researching this at Healthline.com:

"The main function of phosphorus is in the formation of bones and teeth. It plays an important role in the body's utilization of carbohydrates and fats and in the synthesis of protein for the growth, maintenance, and repair of cells and tissues. It is also crucial for the production of ATP, a molecule the body uses to store energy.

Reading only this statement I would tend to agree with her. I would not want to deprive my body of such an important chemical. Further down in the article it states:

"There is generally no deficiency of phosphorus because it is so readily available in the food supply."

The only derogatory health information in the article:

"Excessively high levels of phosphorus in the blood, although rare, can combine with calcium to form deposits in soft tissues such as muscle. High levels of phosphorus in blood only occur in people with severe kidney disease or severe dysfunction of their calcium regulation."

So the conclusion I would have to come to is that there seems to be little truth to the idea that getting enemas can be bad for the health. But it does lend credence to those who have stated that nurses tend to see enemas as not an enjoyable experience.

Personally I prefer to believe in a health benefit but love the sexual aspect of it.

At the age of 40, I have been married 8 years. Yes. my second chance of taking on a mate for life, but everyone deserves at least one more time around for a last shot at happiness. My wife is a nurse, and while some nurses seem to enjoy giving enemas, and perhaps receiving them as well, it seems that there are others who look at enemas as merely for pre-surgical purposes, constipation, or other health necessities. Sadly, my wife is one that falls into this later catagory. My sense is that she views my enema fetish is somewhat weird and perhaps preverted. Oh come on guys, just accept it. We are a very small proportion of the general population. The vast majority of people don't want anything up their south end, let alone large quantities of water filling their intestines. They consider it embarrassing, degrading. uncomfortable and the expulsion disgusting. They can't see anything sexual, or pleasurable in the process.

We are the very few who enjoy the whole thing and I don't know why we have this fetish. I know that some couples use them prior to anal sex, but don't really enjoy the preparation. I think there are two reasons why many women are turned off by enemas: one is that there are many women that are not "anal," (which is an entire topic in itself), therefore, any touching of their anus or insertion of anything into it really causes them great anxiety. the second reason i think many women are turned off by enemas is that an enema deals with one of the most basic of bodily functions - defecation, and therefore, it is viewed as disgusting. Add on to that unless you are comfortable with someone, defecation is not something you would discuss, nor would you want to be in a hotel bathroom shitting while the person is right in the next room.
