I hope to get the answers that you want.
I insert a catheter when I go through about 2 depends a day. I sometimes leak, other times I can't control my urine. I have a very overactive bladder and after the botox injections I almost go back to normal for about 2 to 2-½ months. I see the Dr. who does the botox injections in Feburary, so till then I will wear a catheter. That way I don't have the leakage, some days it is worse than others. The botox Dr. sees me every 4 months.
When I take my catheter out, I pee normally. I don't ever take it out to pee, all my urine drains into my overnight bag.
Monday's are the worst day. I take two extra diuretics and I produce a lot of urine. In about 5 hours, I produce 2000 ml, all day long it is pee, pee, pee. I could fill a 4000 ml bag in about 10 hours.
I also like the feel of the catheter in me when I touch myself. I can feel the catheter in my penis.
As to UTI's, years ago when I was rather stupid I got a couple, but now, for about 2 years, I have not had any. I make sure I clean the catheter every day, I use some triple antibiotic ointment on my penis where the catheter comes out of the urethra. This also supplies some lube so the catheter can move freely.
I make sure I have clean hands, a clean penis and I make sure the catheter comes out of the packaging.
I don't use a leg bag, I fill them up way too quickly. I use an overnight bag all the time. I have to empty it about 4 or 5 times a day.
I did have to take some anti-biotics before I had my botox injections. They killed off something I had in my bladder. It seems the Dr.'s office wasn't too concerned, the drugs worked and I got one more pill during the botox injections.
I make sure I use hand sanitizer on my hands before I insert the catheter.I have also used that on my penis before I insert the catheter, or I use the alcohol free wipes they give you before you give a unine sample at the Dr.'s office.
I do enjoy wearing a catheter. The Dr.'s office said I could change it at home, I don't have to go to the urologist's office to get my catheter changed. I checked today, I misunderstood the nurse on Friday. So I had a catheter in me for 43 days, the Urologist's office said to change them every 30 days. I will stick to that schedule.
I hope I have answered your questions.
