Its amazing that the clitoris is an organ purely for pleasure. How cool is that.

Not really. The pleasure may be what we feel, but the female orgasm serves a couple of important physiological functions.
First, during the orgasm, the cervix also undergoes contractions and kind of stirs the semen around in the back of the vagina, mixing its various compponets to enable the enzymes to change the viscous freshly deposited semen into a thin watery fluid making it a little easier for more sperm to enter the uterus. For that to be beneficial, the man has to orgasm and deposit semen before the woman orgasms [sorry ladies]. Second, since we have evolved the way we have, the woman having an orgasm with her man, is a demonstration to her that the man cares enough to make sure she cums. That builds a stronger bond between mating couples, which is needed for them to stay together and raise and support their offspring until they are ready to set out on their own.
As an aside to my second point, traditionally, it has been the wealthy men that have been able to be polygamous because they could generally support many wives and children. In some poor African tribes, polyandry exists for the converse reason: the men/families are poor and more men are needed to hunt, gather food, protect the family, etc in order to support their children. One man with many wives can yield many children. One wife with many men can only yield as many children as the one woman can carry through pregnancy.
The whole orgasm and family thing gets very complicated phylogenetically.
