Due to multiple deaths of family members from colon cancer, I underwent 3 coloniscopies so far.
The first time, 2 pollipes were actually discovered and removed from me.
I didn't notice anything about the actual examination because I was under anesthesia. It was more the preparation the 3 days before that was very annoying.
3 days before the examination I had to follow a very strict diet. I was only allowed to eat a limited number of things.
2 days before the examination it became really annoying. I had to drink a lot of water with some kind of laxative in it.
That didn't really taste good and the water also had an annoying unpleasant sweet smell.
The intention was that my bowel movement became very clear
1 day before the examination I was not allowed to eat anything and from then on it became increasingly difficult to drink that annoying water. However, I knew I had to persevere.
The day of the actual examination, I went to the hospital.
A nurse escorted me to a single room. I had to put on a hospital gown and she took my temperature, blood pressure...
Then she asked me to go to the bathroom. I was certainly not allowed to flush anything and not drop paper in the toilet.
The doctor could only start the examination if my bowel movements were very clear
She gave me the necessary privacy and I thought the brightness was not too bad.
Unfortunately, according to her, it was not good yet.
She brought me a new bottleof water with that nasty laxative that I had to drink in half an hour.
It was now very difficult for me to drink it all. But in the end it worked. I called her back , went back to the toilet .
Everything would be fine now, I thought.
Alas, alas. Again not good enough.
She gave me the choice. Either she gave me an enema or I could make one last attempt with a new bottle of water.
I would rather opt for the latter.
It took me an extreme amount of effort. Despite an empty stomach, I constantly had the feeling that I had to vomit. Got really desperate. But finally I was able to call her. And a miracle, this time the brightness was sufficient.
Soon after, I was taken to the examination room and everything went smoothly. Also no pain afterward.
Back home I drew my conclusions for the next visit, 3 years later. Do not eat anything at all three days before the colonoscopy
At the second examination, however, something strange happened to me again, but this is for another story.
