My mom was an RN who was very experienced in giving enemas. She graduated from nursing school in 1950 and has mentioned how half of the student nurses gave enemas while the other half were eating lunch. Then the two groups swapped tasks. Back in those days hospitals used their student nurses ad givers for most of the enemas that were prescribed.
I know Mom used the bag regularly on herself and on Dad too. She gave me enemas every weekend and if I was home from school sick, that was justification for enemas until clear for the duration of whatever ailed me. Of course, if I was constipated enemas were the solution (pun intended). She never gave me a suppository or MoM.
One time, in the early 70s, Mom had her nursing students to the house for a party. One of the songs they sang had the lyrics, āI just gave an SSE and now itās coming back at me.ā I forget the rest of the words, but they had a blast singing it.
My ex-wife is an RN. She hated enemas. Like Mashie said, āFirst of all in my opinion there are two types of nurses, kinky and way not kinky.ā I donāt think many enemas are given in an ICU/CCU. She did mention a double balloon nozzle to me once. I was already very well acquainted with its use. One of Momās bags had one installed. Mom had quite a collection of equipment that she used rather effectively. But, we had an enemaless marriage. She didnāt have a bag of her own and she didnāt know about mine.
Before marrying her I had dated some of Momās students. Several of them were into enemas and we had enjoyable times together. In the end, I picked the wrong student of Momās to marry.
After leaving the marriage I dated a few nurses. Not all of them were into enemas, but the ones that were, wellā¦ I think that at a certain age, some women come to terms with who they are and what they enjoy and arenāt shy to admit it. And that includes nurses.
So, I donāt think that being a nurse makes you predisposed to liking enemas, giving, receiving or both. I think that someone either likes enema play or they donāt, but since many people have never been in a situation where they have to give or receive, they remain ignorant of the experience. Perhaps there are some nurses who never had an enema but were required to learn about them in nursing school and decided to explore. As someone noted, these days enema training often involves a dummy to which an enema is not actually administered. But Iāve heard stories about the old days in which the training involved giving enemas to each other. Now, that had to be a riot! My desire would have simply been for every girl in the class to give me enemas until she felt she had mastered the task.
