I just purchased a bottle of Dr. Bronners lavender soap. I haven't used it in quite awhile, but I seem to have suddenly gotten a yen for a soapy enema, and this product is the best.
Dr. Bronners can be really stimulating if you make the enema solution strong enough (one to two tablespoons per quart of water) and make the enema water as warm as you can stand.
Well, I tried a Dr. Bronner's soapy enema this past weekend. Took a four-quart enema with one tablespoon of soap per quart, which seems to be the recommended amount in most recipes.
The result? A lot of stuff came out, but the stuff expelled was very liquid, rather than solid. I think I overdid it. That may be too much soap for my colon, because it was really irritating, and I had trouble doing the plain water rinse enemas afterward -- they were rather uncomfortable, which they usually are not.
All in all, I didn't find the experience all that wonderful, and in the future I may just stay with my usual plain water enemas.
Everyone is different. Unfortunately, I have some hemorrhoids that tend to bleed, and I think this soap might not be a very good idea in my case.
