Anesthesia masks

Now if you want to talk about a primitive anesthesia mask how about something so simple you probably have the items to make it in your kitchen drawer !

Back in the mid 1950's or so when I was a child I had my tonsils removed. In those days they used Either to send you off to lala land !

They used a wire screen, like a strainer and put it over your mouth and nose. The strainer had a cloth over it and they would apply either drop by drop and asked the patient to count backward from 100 so they could tell when you were totally out of it. Don't light up any matches or cigarettes or the patient could have an explosion !

When ever I hear about anesthesia " Mask " this is what comes to my mind as I experienced this as a child. Mention this to any recently graduated medical professional and I bet they never heard of it.

I don't think they had such a thing as an " anesthesist " back then, the nurses did it !

I would NOT suggest you try this at home, without knowing the administration quantity of Either you could put someone out Permanently ! Also the fumes are quite " Explosive " . You can probably find more info by doing a websearch.

Anyone else out there in medfetland remember this procedure ? I wonder if ti is done any more anyplace in the world like 3rd or 4th world developing countries ?

I have had quite a few mask induction GA's After the very first one I have always enjoyed my gas experiances.

For maximum effect you need a black rubber mask and breathing circuit complete with the black rubber rebreathing bag.

The sweet nitrous oxide tinged with rubber getting gradually stronger, the gently growing tingling feeling, getting stronger with each sweet breath.

Then comes the addition of Halothane to the mix, the first taint in the mask, that musty thick smell that gets stronger with each breath, each breath drawing you closer to chemical sleep.

Watching the anaesthetist squeezing the bag in time to your breathing, assisting your passage to the black warm sleep.

Suddenly the mask swollows you up as you fall into the darkness.

I hated the mask as a child when it was used for tooth extractions in the late 60's. If I smell anything like it now it makes me feel really uncomfortable.

When I was hospitalized for asthma as a toddler, the oxygen masks they used then were very similar to the black rubber anesthesia masks. That always had a huge impression on me.

I now have a clear full-face (nose and mouth) mask with my CPAP machine, and I often like to pretend that I'm being put under whenever I go to bed.

Funy how experiences with black rubber anaesthesia masks stay with you for the rest of your life.I am 56 now and I had gas at the dentist at the age of 8 and I can remember every detail still.

The red rubber spron and the metal gag,the black rubber mask and hoses and the black rubber rebreathing bag.The smell of the mask with rubber and sweet smelling gas mixed in a heavenly scent.Being told to take deep breaths and blow up the black rubber bag and then the dizzynes, the buzzing in the ears and the warmth of the red rubber apron.

Pins and needles in hands and feet, sound and vision distorted by the effects of the gas.A feeling of floating and then the feeling of falling into a deep black and red hole then oblivion.

Wonderful !!! I had gas several times after that but the first time started me on the medfet and rubber fetish trail and it is the one I have the most complete memories of.

I like too the black rubber mask with it's black rebreathing bag. I spent hours watching old movies with surgery scenes where the anesthetist was gassing with the "Black beauty" the patient! Such wonderful memories!

I really love those masks... rubber smell and also the rubber "touck" over my face.

I have a black one together with an ambu bag. awesome, I used them for a forced smoking session also.

Now I'm looking for a bigger one with behind head laces.

I just got my first "Black Beauty" this past week. Took years and a sale to finally "go for it". I was also able to get a nice four tail harness that holds it in place. I love the new rubber smell and have been wearing it while working at the computer.

It was on sale from Twist My Rubber Arm, a company based in Montreal but they can bill in USD through an office in Vermont. They were around $14 at the beginning of January in celebration of their 10th anniversary (they are a bit more now). They are the small adult size 4 made by Narang (NET). Two weeks after that, I picked up a size 6 from RubberFusion on eBay along with a 6L rebreather bag. Total came to about $50 including shipping after conversion from GBP to USD.

It is matte but some Black Beauty Latex Polish shines it right up. I agree the 4 is a bit snug. I find the 6 to be a little large but definitely better than the 4.

I am curious where one might procure a clear one. There is a picture of a clear one being used in VO2 testing at http://www.prohealthfit.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/dscn00073.jpg (note this picture is 2272 x 1704 pixels and you can zoom in close to see the details) . I wouldn't mind trying one of those setups on for size 😃 The mask in that picture looks like a nice comfortable face conforming design. Odd thing is the cuff inflator points down instead of up. Also that white harness is odd. I have always seen black colored ones and even have a black one in that design.

I had gas at the dentists twice for removal of milk teeth in the 50's. I can still remember the dentist pressing a black mask on my face and telling me to 'blow up a football'. As I breathed in the gas bright lights started to appear and soon afterwards everything spun round as I fell into a large black hole.

Later in the 60's I had an abscess on a back tooth and the dentist said 'you'll have to have gas for that one'. This time as I walked into the surgery looking forward to another black mask I saw the anaesthetic machine only had a small nasal inhaler. This was duly placed on my nose and held in place around my head by the two feeder pipes. I was told to take some deep breaths through my nose. As I breathed in, the smell of rubber & gas was quite pleasant to me and when breathing out the expiratory valve in the nose mask whistled and soon all the usual sensations gradually happened before I passed out.

I have some black masks, tubes & rebreather bags and a small nasal inhaler amongst my toys.

@diamondgeezer000: I noticed the listing ended and has been relisted at:

I wish it was a true size 5 and not a "feels like" size 5. I already have a 4 and a 6 but the 5's are rather hard to come by at a decent price.

I'll be getting my own mask soon with rebreather bag from instictsmi (I hope we're allowed to dicuss them for play if nothing but air is gonna be passed through them). I can't wait 😃.

Not a problem m3lyc

Excellent, I'll elaborate then. Getting combo 3 from this page in a few weeks. I know I'll be horny the instant I put the mask over my face, they turn me on sooo much;

@m3lyc: Nice choice! Just curious if you chose the three-tail or four-tail harness. I can tell you from experience that the four-tail pictured there is not very durable and may be good for only a few uses. That particular model tears easily and appears to be a single-use type for the newer clear plastic masks that use plastic studs instead of the metal ring used on the black rubber masks. If you can get a heavy rubber three-tail Clausen type it will last almost indefinitely. I got a Clausen three-tail from RubberFusion on eBay that is practically indestructable. For a four-tail harness, I wound up replacing the flimsy one pictured with a Sun-Med brand one from a medical supply company in Florida.

"73" 😃

You must be a fellow ham with the 73 sign off. Thanks for that, you can choose between the 3 and 4 tail, but my playdoc has had his 4 tail for years and it hasn't broken yet. If it does, I'll just replace it.

Yes going on 23 years (my avatar kind of reflects that!). It was an educated guess you were one too 😃

Yeah M3 was the last foundation prefix for the UK, It's M6 now IIRC.

Well I get my rebreather combo tomorrow. Size 5 "black beauty" anaesthesia mask, 42 inch hose, 5 litre rebreather bag, 4 tail harness. I cannot wait!

Pics up of my new setup 😃.

Having had a play with one of my black masks today, I thought of the various masks seen at dental surgeries over the years.

The first one was the standard black mask used on me in the 1950's followed by a black nasal inhaler with its whistling exit valve and twin feeder pipes wrapped around the head in the early 1960's.

I went to this practice for several years and noticed on one visit that their old McKesson machine had been replaced by a new modern machine which had both a green mask & nasal inhaler attached to it but never had the need to 'sample' it. It was usually covered up but one day it was standing near the door in full uncovered view! Had it just been used? Who had been gassed? I shall never know.

There was a second surgery downstairs in the basement used by a part-time lady dentist and one day when the door was open I noticed an old BOC Walton machine with a full black mask standing behind the chair.

My current dentist does not have a gas machine of course so nothing to look out for now.

I had the anesthesia mask used to put me to sleep several time, and by far it is what left me the strongest impression and fascinated me most of the procedures which I underwent

I would Love to try a Cpap Machine with mask as a friend has one!

I would dream of being put under!! 😃

Hi there i was younger about 5 years ago i went to the dental hospital and told me to lie down on a bed it felt so comfortable then the next thing i know i smell a Strong smell then see a big black mask oh i was so scared but 2 years later i was in hospital and i was giving gas again and they used a anesthesia black mask and it felt so good as they talked me through every bit in detail ohhh how good i felt and i play with the same type of mask now as they gave me it as reminder of what happened and i keep it to this day and have bought re-breather bags and still use it to this day

Hello, my name is frank and i'm from germany. since i was 12, my biggest fetish is all about anesthesia masks.

i like to talk about it, so if you want to chat please send me a message.

Thinking about purchasing a mask and rebreather combo for some fun. Maybe an ambu bag too too add to the effect if I have a partner.

I have a ambu bag, it is very nice 😃
