Hello,
I have been reading this thread. I am not into enemas sexually but I have medical issues such as chronic constipation I want to resolve.
I have some questions for the experienced people here.
Wouldn't mixing bisacodyl with soap simply trap the bisacodyl in the soap molecules making it unavailable to the colon wall?
Soap is used to clean things, you would think it clean the bisacodyl so your colon couldn't use it.
I broke apart the bisacodyl tablets, soaked them in water for 24 hours and removed the outer acid resistant layer. The bisacodyl doesn't dissolve in the water, most of it just stays on the bottom of the container. How big of a deal is this? Is there a way to make it dissolve into the water?
I want to start with a 2 liter enema. What is the dose of bisacodyl I should use in the enema?
Thanks.
If you're solving a medical problem then you'll want to look at the broader picture and seek authoritative advice. That said I have gotten good advice from here so I will pass on some of my own in the hope it will help.
Mixing bisacodyl with soap doesn't trap the bisacodyl. It would if the soap reacted with it, but it doesn't. In fact I find the soap makes the bisacodyl much more active. This may have to do with making it more available or making the colonic mucosa more receptive to it, I'm not sure.
Bisacodyl does not dissolve in water, so it will remain as a finely dissolved solid. Just give your enema a stir or a shake before taking it and it will work just fine. If you do want to dissolve the bisacodyl I have heard you can use a PEG solution (Mirilax), but I'm not sure it will help much. It will make the enema more isotonic to the colon, but will be noticeably more expensive. I sometimes just soak the bisacodyl tablets in a squirt of liquid castile, seems to work pretty well and after a day there is just a finely divided powder in the soap.
Bisacodyl doses are generally a constant number not a ratio per quart. Start with 10mg, move up to 20 if you need it.
