Do women get less thorough cardiac auscultation

Several of the women I've had the good fortune to steth have told me that I was the first to steth her bare chested or at least the first to do so since she was a child before her breasts developed.

There is no way to get a good listen at the apical pulse and mitral valve without removing the bra and, with larger breasts, lifting the breast.

Which tells me that women often get less thorough auscultation of their hearts.

There was an old GP in my home town who didn't believe in gowns and stethed everybody bare chested. He did the athletic physicals for the local high School and middle school. The girls who were his regular patients knew the drill and thought nothing of it. The girls who did cheerleading and sports referred to the annual sports physical as "showing our tits to Dr Charlie"

I think it depends on the exam, but I would say it is 50/50 if it is deemed an indepth exam
