I am an enema virgin. Never had one, but reading about them intrigues me. I may try one out of curiosity sometime due to all the positive posts on this site. The closest I have ever been to what an enema might be like is the bowel prep the day before a colonoscopy. This thread brought to mind something I had not considered. In general how long does it take to expel all the enema so that a person can go about their daily routine without worrying about any leakage or other activity?
And @Rigel advised
That will depend on volume, solution you use, how high up in the colon you inject it, and how your system reacts. Start slow, low volume, and give yourself plenty of time afterwards to see how you react.
@John657,
I’m glad you’ve done a lot of reading about enema practices here before trying one. Good advice in #55 below from @Rigel I agree with. Another couple of suggestions, if you don’t mind. I don’t know if you have any enema gear at all. @Rigel said start low volume, but don’t immediately go out and buy a tiny pre-packaged enema like a Fleet or similar store brand. The old Fleet squeeze bottles I used were I think 4 or 8 ounces, a good volume, but what they call a “saline enema” is not Normal Saline. I and others here find it much too irritating to use for recreation. If you already have those, pour it out and rinse and refill with just plain warm tap water, which is how I used up my last 2 Fleets.
Whatever your equipment, just start with either plain water or real salt water you make yourself, about 1-1.5 (measured) teaspoons per quart of water. Neither will irritate you. I’d suggest you start with a cup (8 fl oz) to a pint (2 cups) up to perhaps a single quart (4 cups) at most. Since I’d guess you already like things in your anus like plugs or fingers or dildos, the first couple of enemas of your life really answer the question “………..okay my plug and now my little enema nozzle feel good inside my butt, so now I’ll see if I really like the feeling of water squirting out the nozzle into my rectum and maybe colon……” If you enjoy the water flow sensations and slightly later the feeling of your rectum filling with water, great - go try the next one. For me 55 years ago, I loved both the penetration AND the flowing and filling sensations immediately on my very first enema.
Good luck, have fun, and let us know how you feel and ask any other questions you come up with.
