Blackmail Role-play

I'm looking for ideas on blackmail roleplay. Obviously there will be a blackmailer and a victim (consensual) but the details matter.

What should the blackmailer have to control the victim? Should it be real, such as a threat to expose nude photos, or imaginary, such as evidence of a crime or cheating on a spouse?

Should the victim be able to set limits before the roleplay? Ruling out some things such as nothing painful, nothing public or no third person would be sensible, but would limit the suspense and spontaneity. Another option would be a safe word that the victim could use to stop a specific activity but not end the roleplay.

Any ideas?

I roleplay with my guy. The trick for us is giving up control to the other. We sometimes just agree who will be dominant, or sometimes we have some sort of competition and the loser has to essentially be the other's slave and will do whatever is asked (in the context of what we already know are our personal limits). The power exchange is usually in the context of something sexual. For example, if I lose, I may be his patient for a medfet role play; or a very bad little girl who needs to be punished; or a highly paid call girl who will perform unusual sexual services.

For me, I wouldn't want anything to be disclosed outside of our home, or anything that caused me real pain or public humiliation, and especially nothing that could possibly damage our relationship.

A lot of that needs to be negotiated directly with your partner vs here. The limits especially. Spontaneity is great right up to the point where you trigger something that upsets your partner. Negotiate hard limits beforehand and make sure you fully understand any soft limits. Safe word or gesture is a must.

as to the backstory - write it together, that can be really hot. Naked photos or evidence of cheating works great if you’re role-playing someone who knows each other. If you want to do the stranger route security guard and shoplifting works as does auditor and embezzlement

This is not blackmailing role play, my wife was actually blackmailed at work. She had been embezzling from the company, a little here a little there. The Controller discovered her theft of company funds and called her to his office after work. She had no idea he was on to her. After confronting her, he said could put her in jail, but offered her a deal. She was to become his mistress. She had no choice but to say OK.
