I would be interested to hear from professional nurses of their experiences in giving enemas for medical reasons in hospital environments.
My first query is, was giving enemas a daily experience in your ward or section? Some readers may have been in the profession for years’ and may even have had experiences of large volume enemas of yesteryear.
I would expect that there are fewer enemas administered these days, and also understand it will also depend on the type of ward you are on, but nevertheles, in your experience, would it be one or two a day, three a week, one or two a month - your experience would help to understand if the enema, albeit a fleet, is alive and well, and still an important medical and nursing treatment.
Secondly, in your experience, and in general, how did your patients respond? Were they resigned and accepting, did they resist and complain - and did any show signs of really enjoying it?
And finally, how did you feel about giving enemas? I assume that if you are on this site, you are someone who has a fascination and enjoyment of giving or getting enemas. How did you feel about it, or was it all in a days work?
I would certainly like to hear your observations, and I am sure many on the site would be fascinated as well.
Thanks in anticipation,
Delia
