Examination of the foreskin

Just this year - I'm 34 and was for my yearly physical. The doctor retracted, commented that everything looked okay, and covered it back up. I did leak some precum which was embarrassing, but it was otherwise quick and straightforward.

@Acroposthion : I was 13. I had to stay in hospital due to a severe unclear illness and I was checked up from head to toe. The doctor told me that she also had to examine my penis and, when I had pulled down my pants, without any further word she pushed my foreskin back as far as ever possible, which was quite painful the way she did. She complained about hygienic issues caused by my foreskin still being too tight, and that she would suggest circumcision to cure this issue. I can hardly imagine the overall situation in any more embarrasing or more frightening way.

I think some female medical personnel are quite sadistic toward young males, but I suppose that can go both ways. She surely knew she would create pain doing that to you and certainly she knew how to retract it in a less painful manner.

She surely knew she would create pain doing that to you and certainly she knew how to retract it in a less painful manner.

In the end she didn't try to be careful … maybe she didn't want to take the risk to cause an erection …

I was thinking more of a male OB/GYN being rough when inserting a speculum without lubing it first or very cold.

Maybe in both scenarios they just don't like the opposite sex for some reason and enjoy hurting them.

In the end she didn't try to be careful … maybe she didn't want to take the risk to cause an erection …

Maybe in both scenarios they just don't like the opposite sex for some reason and enjoy hurting them.

Some perform hurting because they like the other sex (makes sense if the respective partner likes it, too) …

Oh so true, however I guess the average female doctor would try to avoid a pubescent boy to become excited in an examination situation.

I got mine checked only once around the age of 15. The Dr just pulled it back, said it was ok, and pulled up my underpants.

I never had the sensation of the free glans rubbing against the fabric before. It‘s extremely sensitive and a huge turnon. I pity people who lost their foreskin without a reason.

The recent official German guidelines say that in the age of 7 in about 50 percent of all boys the foreskin is at least almost fully retractable, in the age of 10 it's about 67 percent compared to 92 percent in the age of 13.

However, not every physician might be aware of the latest(!) guidelines, and some might simply ignore it, since those “border numbers” became more and more eased over the last 40 years. So I guess many physicians in Germany would not wait until puberty for treatment.

My Pediatrician checked my foreskin only once i were Five but our Family Doctor withdraw it as he assume i had a hernia. He know it was someone like that but he transferred me to the surgeon and he did not confirm that…

I guess the Dr who delivered me went to their school before they moved it up to 6. He asked my mother if she wanted him to chop it off. When she said NO!!!! he told her she would have to retract it every time she bathed me to wash under it and she did. So I grew up thinking all boys could retract it from birth. No doctor has ever done it to me in my 82 years. The only one who looked under there was a dermatologist a month ago because I mentioned it getting scraped at the hospital creating a sore. She didn't retract it herself, she had me take whatever position was easiest for me to retract it and show that to her.

The AWMF is the network of scientific medical professional associations in Germany. They publish guidelines to different topics for medical professionals.

Never, in a medical exam, since I was old enough to remember. However I expect the surgeon would have done it a couple of years back when I had a kidney stone removed by ureteroscopy. It was under general anaesthetic, but I'm sure the surgeon would have had to pull the foreskin back before inserting the probe. Maybe it was taped back for the duration.

At age 60, saw a urologist for the first time due to a rising PSA. She did a complete exam of my penis including foreskin retraction, testicle check and DRE.

Its been about 6 years since I had my previous Dr who would check it every time I came to see him (just booked a physical every couple of years to make sure there wasn't any issues). The last one I would have been about 28.

Did the typical stand up, palpate the testicles, hernia check, and then would grab my penis with one hand and without saying anything would pull my foreskin back (pretty quickly and tight), look side to side and then that was it. The first time it caught me by surprise, wasn't exactly expecting it, or at least for him to do it without asking me if I had any issues with it first (which I don't).

I would get a bit of a semi from this so the foreskin would stay retracted when he was finished. I would just leave it and return the foreskin before putting my clothes back on.

My current Dr has yet to look at my foreskin or genitals for that matter, even though I have disclosed some issues with balantitis.

@hawthorne You still have your foreskin? I thought English-speaking Canada largely followed US customs in cutting almost all males at birth.

@Pecan_nutjob Thankfully I do. I probably wouldn't have a medfet if it wasn't for the foreskin retractions in a medical setting haha. That one extra layer of exposure is a huge turn on.

Canada's cir rates are slightly different from the US. In Ontario I found it was almost 50/50 growing up, with the rates going down over the years. According to Wiki as of 2006, Ontario was at 43%. Besides that, my dad was born in the UK so I assume I might have kept mine regardless.

My dad had scheduled me to get circumcised in third grade as the pediatrician was always adamant I get cut. When the hospital called to confirm that I was getting circumcised, my mom cancelled it.

I found out in college that sex was nearly impossible and I was desperate to get it fixed at any cost. The urologist attempted to retract my foreskin, but he couldn’t get the adhesion to let loose. I was circumcised a week later on a Friday. Arrived in outpatient around 11:00 and filled out forms in my little room. Undressed fully and covered up in the bed. Didn’t go back to the operating room until almost 2:30 but was back in my room shortly after 3:00. It was a quick procedure.

@roscoe I wouldn't be completely sure about that. My dermatologist views my penis and genitals in a round about way, but has never touched my genitals or even directly examined them. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't retract my foreskin if I had any. From what I've read on here, many dermatologists don't even have you remove your underwear. Every doctor is different though, hopefully you get a very thorough one.

Well it interesting anyway. Her assistant (nurse?) led me to the room and told me to strip to my shorts, then asked if I wanted a gown as those would be coming off soon also. I asked what was the point since she would have me nude anyway? The derm soon appeared and I gave her some mail for her that was left at my house. I discovered we were neighbors thanks to the misdelivery. She found a couple spots on my face that she wanted to freeze and a spot she wanted to cut out to be looked at. She sent for the stuff she needed and her assistant had another young girl with her when she returned. So now it's naked me and three clothed women. When I filled out the paperwork a few months earlier I mentioned a scratch on my inner foreskin and a more severe one where the nurse at the hospital snagged the urinal bottle on the back of my glans after doing a “sterile” urine collection. That had healed up by this time but she asked me to retract the foreskin and show it to her anyway. As I positioned myself for that and pulled back the foreskin all three of the girls moved in for a close look. The third girl was never introduced, maybe she was one of the office girls who wanted to see a foreskin. This being the USA where most of those became fish bait soon after a boy is born she'd probably never seen a “whole” man. Anyhow the derm pronounced everything OK and that was as close as I came to getting anything below my belt line checked.

I don't see why a circumcision is necessary due to an adhesion. They have to get rid of the adhesion to do the circumcision so wouldn't that make the circumcision unnecessary?

Yet another indicator why circumcision is a socio-cultural imperative in some societies and not really a medically necessary procedure at all.

There might be an analogy in there like the hammer and nail thing: once you have a hammer, every (little) problem looks like a nail. Once someone has a penis, every little problem looks like it needs a circumcision.

I had my foreskin examined at my last medical several months ago. I take it as read that if you are having a full medical the foreskin will be given a thorough examination.

I also don't feel like i have been fully exposed to the doctor until my skin has been fully retracted and my entire glans is visible.

I feel similar. As i've posted in the past on another topic, I feel most exposed / naked when my foreskin is fully retracted as far as it will go.

My foreskin was always checked because it was tight and he’d tug it down every visit
