The adventure continuesâŚ
So I wasn't sure what to make of the recommendation to go back on hormonal BC and my boyfriend wanted me to go get a second opinion. While looking to book an appointment I saw that a really nice young doctor I went to once is back in the practice in my city. Yesterday I had my appointment with him, and I think he pretty much is the ideal doctor, he couldn't have been more perfect.
Just coming into his office he started with sweet comments about my name and asking if I've had a long wait etc. He must be in his 30s, and has really kind brown eyes. I sat down and gave him a recap and he took out paper and a pen and started drawing out circles and diagrams for me and explaining how a woman's cycle works and what happens with PCOS and why he thinks hormonal BC is the best option for me. He took the time to make sure I understand everything, and answered every and any question. We discussed when I want to get pregnant and types of birth control and decided an IUD is the best bet, and he'll put it in for me at a later date.
He asked if I thought there was any reason for a physical exam (I've had several exams recently), and I told him that I've been experiencing cramping even though I'm not on my period. He suggested we do a quick ultrasound and showed me to the exam table, and closed the curtain behind me to give me privacy. I removed my heeled-boots, black dress pants and thongs, keeping my socks on, and folded them and placed them neatly on a chair next to the table and then sat on the exam table with my feet in the stirrups but knees closed and not reclining back onto the table and told him I'm ready. He came in and told me that there's an extra piece of paper on the exam table meant to be a drape so I sat up and got it out from under me and he helped me cover myself with it while joking that he tries to provide the best amenities or something like that. He then directed me to place my feet in the stirrups and scoot down and lie back. It was kind of a flat lying chair so I was feeling extra exposed, and he asked me to scoot down further. He asked me if it's tolerable- âdoesn't need to be great, but is it tolerable? are you doing ok?â (this before he even touched me). He then raised the bed quite a bit, sat on a stool near the end and prepared the TVU wand. He warned me it'll be cold and then proceeded to introduce it slowly while saying âsorry, sorry!â. He showed me on the monitor everything he was seeing, and we joked that as long as there's no baby there, I'm fine. He pressed the wand towards the right ovary and then kind of wiggled it asking if that's the pain I've been feeling. He asked me to try to differentiate between the discomfort of the exam and the cramps and pressed-wiggled the wand again, resting his hand on my inner thigh. He then moved on to the other ovary and then pressed upwards a bit which caused discomfort, he also said he feels fullness and suggested it might be a UTI. He said gynecologically speaking he can't see anything wrong, he gently removed the wand and told me I can get dressed and closed the curtain behind him.
We continued the chat more and concluded on further steps, it was quite a long appointment. Anyways, Just wanted to share the most recent exam experience, what a sweetheart this doc is, both super caring and professional and also totally cute. I wonder if he found me cute as well and that was part of the special attention and care or if he's like this with everyone, but either way I lucked out.
