My wife had a Cystometry, or cystometrogram. She was having difficulty emptying the bladder - eg bladder retention issues. She was in a gyno chair but didn't use the stirrups. They emptied her bladder via a catheter, and placed another small catheter into her vagina (rectum for men) to measure pressure on the outside of the bladder. Her bladder was then slowly filled with 500 ml of sterile saline. They asked her when she felt an urge to urinate - she never did. Pressures were automatically charted via a computer. They emptied her bladder via the catheter and ultimately put in a permanent supra-pubic catheter for bladder elimination.
