After a lot of antibiotics years ago, I developed C-Diff.
Apparently, C-Diff gets going when the micocritters normally in you that compete with it get killed off by antibiotics, and, with the competition gone, it blooms and the person really starts to poo.
Let me tell you, it's no fun at all I was pooing soup about every half hour for day after day. In fact, for a while I had a bowel catheter in me, so I could poo through the tube into a bag and give my very, very sore anal passage a rest. For those who are not familiar with device, here is a pic:

The tube and balloon goes into the user, the retention balloon is inflated with warm water, and the person poos at will though the tube into the collection bag. I had that in me for about a week, along with a Foley.
Anyway, lots of anti-Diarrhea meds did nothing. A colon hydrotheapist fiend suggested a pro-biotic enema. Being petty miserable, I agreed.
The treatment stated off with two full adult doses of Castor Oil, given on an empty stomach, an hour apart to clear out as much as possible. When the pooing had petty much stopped, she put in a Coloclean and filled me completely there or four times with warm water. I then went to the toilet to drain out as much as possible remaining water.
Then it was pro-biotic time. The therapist gently inserted a Fr 32 colon tube a very long way, probably at least 3 feet, and over the next half hour injected about a half dozen doses of pro-iotic solution. The solution was OTC probiotic capsules, opened and emptied into warmed bottles water (no Chlorine). Each dose was a couple of ounces… not enough to be laxative. I also got several doses of the same stuff orally.
The pro-biotic enema did helped the C-Diff abate, IMO, although it took about 6 months for the micocitters to each equilibrium.
