How long did your mom or dad keep thermometer in when they took your rectal temperature?

3 minutes orally 5 under the arm and rectally

It was only five minutes ( she timed it by her watch) but it seemed an eternity.

Mom inserted the mercury glass thermometer for 3 minutes. I used to lay on my tummy on my bed and she was sitting next to me and counting the minutes.

I don’t remember but I think it was 3 mins at the doctors and 5 mins at home! Either way if seemed like an eternity! At the doctors it was done while we layed on the exam table; sometimes it was done while laying across mom or dads lap. At home it was almost always over mom or dads lap!

At times if I were sick and also needed a suppository; mom would have me lay in the floor in the diaper position (I hated that position) dad always put me over his lap for suppository and temperature takings.
